Ah, enough. I just can't anymore. It's just, it's too much, isn't it? I just can't anymore. I can't with the everything. Not anymore. I mean, why? Why, right? I mean, you with the thing and then you you have your thing in you yes you right us all of us us all right you you you you and even you and if i have to do whatever it is that i have to do to do it then so be it so be it

00:00:57 - 00:01:03 | Speaker 3:

I hadn't planned to lay it all out like that, but sometimes the right words come perfect. TBTL!

00:01:09 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 1:

All right, hello, good morning, and welcome to another edition of the TBTL Winter Games. My name is Luke Burbank. I'll be hosting this fun, fanciful event, along with my buddy Andrew Walsh, who's right over there. Hello. Hey, Luke. How you doing? I just took a big bite of orange peel. I'm trying to do this thing where I eat more orange peels. And I don't know if it's working for me. Fiber, right? What are you doing? Are you actually eating an orange and you accidentally got some peel in there? I was eating a satsuma or one of those little, you know, kind of those kind of oranges that you get this time of year. Yeah, I love those. But I'm surprised that you're not a big eater of thy fruits. Andrew All bets are off On my dietary ways I eat the fruits now I eat the carbs I've completely given up my I wouldn't even say self-disciplined ways My self-denying ways I didn't think you liked fruit that much I mean maybe So was it more one of those calculations Of calories and sugar Where you're like Well, I like it okay But not enough to eat that sugar That's always been my My approach has been And if I'm going to eat some carbs, I'd rather eat some potato chips or french fries or something like that, a pizza, than have a bunch of fruit. And that's what I understand. One satsumi equals a pizza's worth of carbs. Oh, I just had a little bit of leftover pizza right before running in here myself. Some deep dish pizza, Luke, which I had been a virgin to, I believe, for my whole life, like a real Chicago style deep dish pizza. But we got some last night. At least the best kind of deep dish pizza, I believe, that Seattle can offer. I got some recommendations from some listeners. And we went to a place called Johnny Moe's in Seattle. And I got to say, I get the desire to eat a deep dish pizza Chicago style. It was so good. Now you've got me hungry for a deep dish pizza. And it's got me wondering, I wonder what the best deep dish in Portland is. I'm sure the listeners will know. This is the part of the Winter Games where I just Google, what's the best deep dish in Portland? That's the quiz. That's the quiz today. What is the best deep dish pizza? Oh, my gosh. And you don't believe in Godfathers. Next time you and I find ourselves in Chicago, and I like to think that we will find ourselves in Chicago together with some TBTL business, we should go get some deep dish pizza. That would be really fun. Via Chicago on Alberta Street. I'm looking at a picture. First of all, it's a great name. Not just a Wilco song But a great name for a deep dish pizza place Being that Chicago Is the home of this kind of thing And I'm looking at a piece And I don't know The power of suggestion is strong with you This one today Because until you uttered the words Deep dish pizza I was totally uninterested And now I'm obsessed with going to this place And having a pint The photo on the thing It's like a pint of IPA and a deep dish A slice of deep dish

00:04:09 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 1:

That's literally what I had for dinner last night. It was great. Now, the orange peel thing is because Becca is very healthy. Speaking of the opposite of how I eat now in that I am like a garbage disposal. I eat everything and maybe a trash compactor. I'm not sure what the better analogy is there. A vacuum? Sure. I'll hoover it up. That's a little bit nicer. um and so but becca just is just eats very very healthy whole foods mostly plants and veggies and really unprocessed and seems to genuinely enjoy it and that's the part that i resent that's the part that makes me furious but we were having she brought me some of these oranges over actually it was now of course it's a couple of weeks later but we were recording or having that Zoom hangout.

00:05:00 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 2:

and um becca helped make the gingerbread house that was on um you know in my my sort of tableau for the zoom hangout and i had some satsumas and she brought them over and i was munching on one before the show and she was eating when she started eating the peel and i thought like have you lost your damn mind she was like no the peel is like the best part um i i assume for health reasons it's probably rich in some kind of a thing that's good for you because that's the only kind of stuff she eats so i just ate a satsuma and now i've been trying to eat the peel and it's very tart and that's why Andrew I got off to kind of a cold start at the beginning of the show because I was wincing from eating a big chunk of satsuma peel

00:05:37 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 1:

well this is interesting and we really do have to get to the quiz it's a good one today a listener made it themselves but I think we have time to get into this a little bit because I love satsumas we have a bunch in our refrigerator right now I will plow through a few of those right before going to bed tonight I'm sure and then wake up in the morning and try not to fart around Genevieve and then run out of the bedroom. That's the effect that they have on you. Well, I just think eating a bunch of citrusy fruit right before you go to bed is probably not helping in my attempts not to wake myself up by passing gas next to my partner which I think is, that's just not something we do in our house. We don't celebrate that. As I've said on the

00:06:15 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 2:

show, I find that everybody gets to live their life however they see fit and live their relationships however they see fit but I find it charming that you and Genevieve are trying to preserve at least some last tiny shred of the mystery because that's i've been in both kinds of relationships and i found personally that the ones where we don't just black we don't just blow air near each other all the time those have been for me more successful but i mean none of them have been that

00:06:42 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 1:

successful in that they mostly ended in divorce but i mean you need we still need more studies so don't don't stop proposing to people but don't stop believing but i was gonna say i don't i've never eaten the peel before i'm willing to give that a shot i actually have a follow-up question but before i get to that question let me just say one word luke kumquats these were relatively new to me the tiny tiny little oranges about the size of i don't know two maybe like double the size of a peanut m&m and you just pop the whole thing in your mouth uh you know rind and all do you know these yes so good yes so good they are they're they're good but i i i'm i'm still a little bit

00:07:22 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 2:

I wouldn't say thrown off by, but the peel eating part of it, I want them to be more like a blue crab or a, is it soft shell? What's the crab where like they're molting and you catch them in between having their like shell on and then they're, you can just eat the crab and it's totally delicious and not, doesn't have any shell. Do you know what I'm talking about?

00:07:42 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 1:

I think I've heard of this before. I have not had crab like that myself though, so I don't really know.

00:07:46 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 2:

And basically with a kumquat, it's not like that. it's not like the peel or the rind when you bite down on it is somehow less intense than a regular orange what it is is that there would be it would be madness to try to peel a kumquat because the inside of it is so it's so small so the only practical way to eat it is just eat the whole thing but it feels to me i enjoy it but it's more peel the peel the ratio of peel to the inside part of the kumquat is a little is still not my favorite it's been i don't think i've had them

00:08:19 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 1:

and maybe in the past year i don't know if kumquats are also like um kind of a holiday thing but i swear i did not grow up eating these things it was just in the past several years that somebody said oh yeah just eat the whole thing i was like what it might have even been in la i could sort of see that you know somebody probably had a tree or something and um it's been a little bit since i've had one but i remember being very blown away i i thought that the peel was remarkably inobtrusive unobtrusive um but uh yeah okay so here's the deal tbtl party in chicago we start with the plate of kumquats we share those as an app and then we get the deep dish pizza

00:08:55 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 2:

and then we move on to something called the calamansi it's a lot like it's uh which it looks like it's a lemon it looks like a lime but the inside looks like an orange i think it's maybe

00:09:07 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 1:

from the philippines i yes and i think i i experienced those in um in la as well somebody definitely had a tree and you would we would make our cocktails with them they tasted like a lemon but looked more like almost like a tangerine or something known as a philippine lime or a philippine

00:09:24 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 2:

lemon yeah great in a drink who's known as an asshole is this cat that is just oh sitting on my lap and then biting the living tweedle out of me pick a lane dude yeah i had to kick my guy out

00:09:37 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 1:

of here because i didn't want it to be a distraction because i'm kind of a professional

00:09:40 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 2:

here so yes you are unlike me over here by the way um are orange peels bad for cats yeah just

00:09:47 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 1:

assume if you have to ask you just had three of them can i grab the reins here here's what i want to do i want to tell you about this quiz we're going to take today luke and then maybe we can take a break and we can come back and do the quiz so here's the deal um we got a note From listener Lauren who says I made a quiz for you It's called The Real Housewives of Wherever and Stuff I titled this quiz The Real Housewives Of Wherever and Stuff after a direct Quote from Luke when he was talking about How not into the Bravo Franchise he was. That's why I Enjoyed that joke. It was my joke. It was yours I think the genre is overlooked Says Lauren. While there's a ton of artifice Production and self-aware fakery When you can see Around the kayfabe of Real housewives is hugely interesting from a sociological perspective. So I think that Lauren wants to instill in us maybe a little bit of appreciation for the genre through this quiz. And so it's a slideshow and I'll click through and we can both take it together and see if we see what we know about the real housewives of wherever and stuff.

00:10:46 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 2:

God, that's a good joke. It's so good. Let's do that quick break. And then we will come back and we will play this winter game quiz. Stay with us. All right. The Real Housewives of Whatever and Wherever quiz. Have you ever actually, have you watched even five minutes of any of these Real Housewives of Anywhere programs?

00:11:14 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 1:

No, not a Real Housewives. There was a time when I feel like I was going to the gym more. This goes back a long, long time ago. My first stint in Seattle, so we're talking like 10 years ago. i'd go to the gym at a certain time that the kardashians were on and i remember kind of like just being on the treadmill and watching that and being like oh i kind of get this and then there was some sort of a kardashians marathon on one time i was like i understand how people can be addicted addicted to this like it's usually like everything from the lighting to the tone to all that stuff that's not what i go to when um i want to relax for the day but i can understand why if

00:11:49 - 00:13:01 | Speaker 2:

it's on you can quickly find yourself wrapped up in it yeah for me the problem was always the sort of i guess you could maybe say mcguffin of like the kardashians which is you know it's not enough for them to just live like a kind of a typical wednesday or something it's got to be a wednesday where chris decides everyone is going to learn how to play tennis and then you know then hilarious hijinks ensue i would always say because carrie was a watcher of certain seasons of it and i would say if they just mounted some cameras in like some you know remote controlled cameras in their kitchen and you just cut together the most interesting conversations that are naturally occurring i would watch that show was that called like the loud family or something i mean there was like a pbs documentary that was basically that i'm fascinated by human behavior it's just when it feels overly gimmicky or produced to me is when i have a little bit of trouble with the kardashians and also with the whole housewife situation but that's about to change andrew because we're going to take this quiz or i'm going to take this quiz and at the end we are going to love real housewives from wherever and stuff everywhere the real housewives from

00:13:01 - 00:13:37 | Speaker 1:

everywhere yeah i think we can take this together the way that lauren set this up so here i'm going to read you this question then it's multiple choice and then we'll click to the next slide to find out if we were right or not um this says a character from real housewives of new york speaks to a gathered party crowd in an angry and resolute tone she says the only thing fake about me is this as she proceeds to remove her blank and toss it over the table onto the floor what does she remove and throw onto the floor her wig her quote-unquote designer purse or her prosthetic

00:13:37 - 00:13:49 | Speaker 2:

leg wow so none of them are her shirt i don't want to play into a stereotype but i assume that many of these housewives have been sort of augmented in a way but that's not even an option

00:13:49 - 00:14:13 | Speaker 1:

so it's a wig um a prosthetic leg or a purse yeah it's got to be a wig right um the i actually know the answer to this one because i was testing out the quiz before so i will um aka cheating yeah i I only looked at the first question and answer. And what do you call it when a judge decides not to hear a case because of – I'm recusing myself.

00:14:13 - 00:14:16 | Speaker 2:

You're recusing yourself because of conflict of interest.

00:14:16 - 00:14:25 | Speaker 1:

I'm accusing myself of cheating and recusing myself. You're out of order. This whole show is out of order. Okay, so you're going with wig? Is that your final answer?

00:14:26 - 00:14:38 | Speaker 2:

I'm going with wig because they would never – no one on that show would admit to having a fake purse, like a fake Birkin bag or something. And I mean, it would be better television if it was a prosthetic leg. But I think it's a wig.

00:14:38 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 1:

It is a prosthetic leg. Wow. The answer is C. And I hope I'm saying this first name properly. Aviva Drescher, no relation to the nanny, lost her leg in a farm equipment accident as a child. She was angry at her fellow New York castmates for their doubts about her asthma diagnosis that prevented her from taking part in a cast trip. So just to read.

00:15:00 - 00:15:15 | Speaker 2:

state that it sounds like they all had some plans she said i can't do it i have asthma they said bullshit you have asthma i'm just recreating it here uh and she says you're you think that's a fake diagnosis the only thing fake about me is my leg and throws it across the table wow yeah i'm

00:15:15 - 00:15:22 | Speaker 1:

looking at aviva dresher uh right now uh she wrote a memoir called leggy blonde which is a clever

00:15:22 - 00:15:50 | Speaker 2:

name i kind of like that it's kind of clever it's working lauren it's working um question number two And there are seven of these, in case you're curious. A dinner party host invites their friend, who happens to be a medium, to attend. The medium spends the evening getting drunker and drunker on giant martinis while puffing from a vape. Quote, I know when everyone is going to die, she slurs. I love that about me.

00:15:52 - 00:16:02 | Speaker 1:

I'm not kidding. This is actually working. If I knew there was sloshed mediums on the program, I'd, you know, lean in.

00:16:02 - 00:16:16 | Speaker 2:

I know when everyone's going to die. I love that about me. Who hosted this party? Is it Kelsey Grammer's ex-wife, Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, or Harry Hamlin's wife? Can you remind me who Harry Hamlin is?

00:16:17 - 00:16:54 | Speaker 1:

Harry Hamlin is a very hunky guy. I think he was on a lot of those, I don't know, Dynasty, but maybe post-Dynasty, some of those shows. L.A. Law. I think he might have been on L.A. Law. And his wife is named Lisa Rinna. And Lisa Rinna is notable. She's also an actor. But she has chosen, I think this is reasonable for me to mention because it's just so, it's voluntary and it's outside of the norm. She has chosen to have her lips injected with fillers to a degree that is pretty outside of the usual. Mm hmm. OK. And so I just.

00:16:55 - 00:16:58 | Speaker 2:

So you're familiar with Harry Hamlin's wife. OK.

00:16:58 - 00:17:08 | Speaker 1:

I am familiar with Harry Hamlin's wife, Lisa Rinna, and because that's the only housewife I could probably name because of the lips. I'm going to say it was Lisa Rinna. It was Harry Hamlin's wife's house.

00:17:08 - 00:17:17 | Speaker 2:

I'm going to. I don't know anything about anything regarding this, but I know who Kelsey Grammer is. So I'm going to say, do you know who Kelsey Grammer's ex-wife is by any chance?

00:17:17 - 00:17:24 | Speaker 1:

i don't know the name of kelsey grammar's ex-wife but i like the idea of having i like the idea of

00:17:24 - 00:17:28 | Speaker 2:

being at a party at kelsey grammar's ex-wife's house so i'm going to like the idea of someone

00:17:28 - 00:17:39 | Speaker 1:

shit-talking frazier i certainly do hey you know the tossed salad and scrambled eggs he got that from the store he did not even make that himself look at this the host of beverly hills dinner

00:17:39 - 00:18:28 | Speaker 2:

party from hell was camille grammar this former club mtv dancer was at the time married to kelsey grammar kelsey was in the new york uh kelsey was in new york starring in oh i don't know how to say it what's the birdcage how do you say that in french la cage your fall la cage your fall you're my fact checking cuz unbeknownst to camille kelsey had met a flight attendant on this trip who he would leave camille for later in the season anyway it goes down with a lot more details about who this uh medium is um but i think we can probably just move on to the next well we can say you got the point i did get the point so that means it's one well there's no since i abstain from the first one yeah anyway i'm winning all right question number three real housewives you're the lisa

00:18:28 - 00:18:34 | Speaker 1:

vanderpump of this of this episode of tbtl i'm just looking at names of people that are on these

00:18:34 - 00:18:39 | Speaker 2:

shows there is a show called vanderpump rules right that's a thing correct which i assume is

00:18:39 - 00:18:50 | Speaker 1:

a spinoff of you know interesting lisa vanderpump being a house a real housewife and then you know so there was something just magical and special about her family so now they have a their own

00:18:50 - 00:19:35 | Speaker 2:

show i did not know that okay uh question number three real housewives of new jersey star theresa's husband is convicted yeah of mortgage attacks with each i think look at you since he immigrated to the u.s as a child but never went through the citizenship process he is deported to his birth country blank after he completes his prison sentence so he's convicted of mortgage and tax fraud he's deported after he serves his sentence here he is deported to where what is his birth country turkey italy or portugal the country not the man i'm guessing italy because i think that the yeah i think her last name is italian yeah and you just so i'll go i'm gonna ride along with you on that one um this is the free rider issue with the tbch winter game that we talk about

00:19:35 - 00:19:38 | Speaker 1:

And a classic Lisa Vanderpump move

00:19:38 - 00:19:58 | Speaker 2:

We're going to go with Italy Yes Joe, you just said his name, Gaduchi I don't know Maybe Oh, it says here that he interchangeably Pronounces it as Judice and Judice On the show See, I would also watch a show

00:19:58 - 00:20:06 | Speaker 1:

Where someone regularly mispronounces is their own last name yeah i know right let me see here this there's just a lot of text and i

00:20:06 - 00:20:39 | Speaker 2:

can't read it all and i'm reading it for the very first time because i'm not a cheat cheater but here's a quote from him from old joe i mean my mistake was i never became a citizen yeah that was stupid of me but when you're raised here as a kid you go to school here you do everything here it's not a big deal especially when you're not a criminal he explained all i did was busted my ass my whole life believe me i was a hard worker i wasn't one of these guys that just sat around doing nothing all day that wasn't me i don't know why i never got a passport i just never got one when i was supposed to get one so there you go but the important thing is we're right i've got

00:20:39 - 00:21:36 | Speaker 1:

some news for uh joe is his name joe i don't think it's just getting a passport my guy my brother in christ i think there's some other paperwork what's weird is i am an extremely i'm extremely pro dreamers you know when it comes to daca and a path to citizenship i i i think it's a travesty in this country that somebody who was brought here without any say in the matter maybe as a young child um would not be allowed to you know live their life out here as a citizen except i don't feel as bad for joe yeah which is weird because he should if i if if you know a kid who whose parents brought them here from mexico and when they were two and they grew up I mean, I couldn't be more sympathetic and more steadfast in my belief that that person should be a U.S. citizen, 100%. But yet, I don't know. This guy, they could probably send him back to Italy.

00:21:36 - 00:22:18 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's also about privilege, and also he's been convicted of fraud, and, you know, a lot goes into that. I doubt it's a real bootstrapping story, although I'll be honest, I don't even know how to say his name. So who knows? Sonia Morton. But neither does he. But neither does he. Good point. I just realized you say neither, and I say neither, yet we make it work. We're yet to call this whole thing off. Sonia Morgan of Real Housewives of New York is joined by her friends to the funeral of blank. Sonia attempts to spread the ashes into the Hudson River. As she dumps the bag over the railing, a gust of wind blows it back onto her and onto the sidewalk. You're out of your league, Donnie.

00:22:18 - 00:22:24 | Speaker 1:

This housewife Died like so many other boys at Case on

00:22:24 - 00:22:28 | Speaker 2:

Now I want to watch that movie Alright so

00:22:28 - 00:22:30 | Speaker 1:

Eat deep dish and watch Lebowski

00:22:30 - 00:24:06 | Speaker 2:

Oh you know what you need to do The idea would be to find one of those pizza bars that I like That serves deep dish but also watch Plays DVDs or VHS Cassettes on like an old TV Above the bar Like Big Mario's Oh Actually can I quick aside here I know we need to kind of keep clicking along, but you know how I love, I've only been to this place like twice, and I think one of the times was with you, certainly the first time was with you, and it's a place in Seattle called, I think it's the North Lake Tavern. It's the pizza shop that has all the David Horsey murals that are presenting like UW sports, and I swear these were painted in like 93. The inside of this place still feels very much like 1993, for better and for worse. Like, it's not the best kept up place in the world, but it just feels like an era captured, you know, in time and space. And I just heard that they are being sold. And I don't know if they're going to keep their name or it's going to be a different whatever. And, you know, when I hear about that, that's one place that even though I don't go there a lot, it just seems so special to me. And I was like, oh, man, I hope that place stays around forever. But then Genevieve said, yeah, I think she was the one who told me this news. She said, yeah, I think the people from Big Mario's are buying it. And I'm like, you know what? I trust that. Like, I'm not saying that they're going to make every decision I would make, probably, again, for the better. But, like, they get vibes, the people who run those places. And I think that if they want to keep that vibe, they will. Or they'll transform it into something that is still, like, you know, not totally douchey. You know, I think it would be kind of cool.

00:24:07 - 00:24:46 | Speaker 1:

I'm assuming they'll leave the horsey up. I hope so. For folks that don't live in the Northwest, David Horsey is an editorial cartoonist for many, many years at, was it the Times or the P.I.? I feel like he was the P.I. Then he went down to the L.A. Times, where I think he's still doing it. And won Pulitzer's for his political. You know, he also went to Nathan Hill High School, where I graduated from. Oh, I didn't know that. And the old, this is the old building, the wrestling gym, or the gym where the wrestlers would practice, had this huge sort of painting mural from David Horsey of Nathan Hill wrestlers in the David Horsey drawing style, which was kind of cool.

00:24:47 - 00:24:58 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I didn't know that about the high school, but yeah, I hope they keep the murals, because again, it's a pretty, it's a cool feature. So, okay, we got to figure out whose ashes. Now I went to Northlake Pizza Tavern.

00:24:58 - 00:25:47 | Speaker 1:

Do you know when I got pizza from the north lake that was the most memorable to me was this sounds like uh i'm trying to humble brag or whatever but when i did my one and only marathon the green river marathon which i did with our friend nicky with two k's and john di loreto um i got done and it was very far to run for me i was very tired and i went home and i took a shower and i ordered a pizza from the north lake tavern or maybe i must have picked it up on the way i don't know if they delivered but somehow i had this entire massive pizza and i sat on i laid on my couch under a blanket and just ate pizza and napped intermittently for like 48 straight hours i would wake up homer with a sandwich i would wake up i would eat some more north lake tavern pizza fall back into a

00:25:47 - 00:26:06 | Speaker 2:

stupor wake up it's pretty good 48 hours um the uh okay i'll get back to this question in a second The time I went there, the first time was after I was out on the boat with you, Camaro Kev, I believe maybe Durs and our buddy Nick, and then we had to get it towed. I mean, I don't know if you can keep those straight.

00:26:06 - 00:26:08 | Speaker 1:

This was the time when I was firing off the flare gun.

00:26:08 - 00:26:10 | Speaker 2:

Yes, you and Nick were firing off the flare gun.

00:26:10 - 00:26:13 | Speaker 1:

While blasting Big Sean's, I don't bleep with you.

00:26:13 - 00:26:36 | Speaker 2:

And then we ended up getting towed back to shore. And then you're like, hey, let's go get some pizza. Also, don't get the olives on the pizza there. I like olives on a pizza, but they chop it up like a tapenade and cover the entire pizza with a strange decision. Sonia attempts to spread these ashes into the Hudson River. They go all over the place. Whose ashes were they? Her dog, her husband, or her facialist?

00:26:36 - 00:26:43 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. I'm going to say dog, although facialist would be a great answer.

00:26:43 - 00:27:14 | Speaker 2:

It would be a great answer. I'm going to say dog as well. That makes the most sense for something like that. I feel like if it was a human, it would be a little dark for the show. Let's see here. The answer is her beloved dog, Milu, who died of old age. Sonia is one of five non-concurrent wives of banking scion, John Adams Morgan, descendant of J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley founder, Harry Sturgis Morgan. She resided in a townhome that at times could rival Gray Gardens for its propped up and crumbling grandeur. Lauren's got the writer.

00:27:15 - 00:28:24 | Speaker 1:

Yes, Lauren. Nice job. Also, that's also making me want to watch the show. Somebody's living in a great garden situation Right I find all of the like The other thing about the Real Housewives And this is again I don't know the show So this I could be wrong about this But there's this sort of Nouveau riche Kind of like New money vibe to the whole thing Where everyone's in kind of like a beige Some kind of beige McMansion In Scottsdale or whatever It's not interesting What would be interesting to me would be People that were doing much less well financially and we're trying to figure out how to make it work like i'd be or like someone living in a crumbling mansion like some real great expectations vibes some real miss havisham shit going on maybe pee in the bottles yes thank you some some uh uh oh god how can i forget his name the aviator yeah the spruce goose guy yeah that guy um hold on i can't The problem is I'm looking at J. Paul Getty's – when you look up John Adams Morgan, you end up over at J. Paul Getty, and it's blocking out the – Howard Hughes is the name I'm trying to think of.

00:28:24 - 00:28:51 | Speaker 2:

Hughes, of course. Okay, we have five, six, three more to go here, and I want to get through these. These are really good. Which of the following franchises I love this so much Which of the following franchises Has not Had a cast member And or spouse Charged with a federal crime While filming While filming So which one has not It's gotta be Utah Oh are you clicking along Do you see the options No Oh you just knew that No I'm just guessing

00:28:51 - 00:28:53 | Speaker 1:

Is there Salt Lake Is one of them Salt Lake

00:28:53 - 00:29:07 | Speaker 2:

Yes I didn't know that There was one But you have A Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Salt Lake City Atlanta or Miami I was going to go with Salt Lake City as well. You, though, if this is right, get extra credit. Thank you for knowing that was a thing. For knowing that was a thing.

00:29:07 - 00:29:16 | Speaker 1:

It seems like Salt Lake, and we have lots of listeners there, peace and love. Salt Lake seems just like the least criminal city that you could have one of these things in.

00:29:17 - 00:29:23 | Speaker 2:

We are both wrong. The Real Housewives of Miami has never had a cast member charged with a federal crime.

00:29:23 - 00:29:26 | Speaker 1:

I assumed most of them would be married to drug lords.

00:29:27 - 00:31:00 | Speaker 2:

There's a caveat here. Real Housewives Miami never had a cast member charged with a federal crime a few offseason DUIs or assaults though now this goes into great detail about the crimes of the various cities I can't read it all do you want to hear what happened in Salt Lake though yeah what happened in Salt Lake City someone drank some coffee and I'm gonna have to slow down as I read this one because it's quite text heavy Jen Shaw pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud and money laundering for a telemarketing scheme that targeted at least 10 people over the age of 15. 55 the pair i think this is a quote from newspaper now the pair reportedly created lists of potential victims called leads then they sold those leads to telemarketing companies per people magazine according to the indictment jen and stewart received as profit a share of the fraudulent revenue per the terms of their agreement uh homeland security tried to arrest her on camera while she was at a party bus on a party bus in front of a beauty lab but she got tipped off and fled luke why are we not watching i gotta start watching the show i mean she claims to castmates that her husband was bleeding rectally and she needed to see she needed to see him in the hospital um the video well there's a video link in here the other video links haven't been working so i've been skipping it do do we want to hear what it sounds like yes let's give it a try i know we're going rectal bleeding i know let's see it's trying to load now i'm not sure if this gonna work oh the video is no longer available it's been pulled off of YouTube unfortunately

00:31:00 - 00:31:08 | Speaker 1:

when you get pulled off of YouTube that's gotta be some yeah intense rectal bleeding or it might be some

00:31:08 - 00:31:12 | Speaker 2:

intense copyright law but yeah exactly

00:31:12 - 00:31:18 | Speaker 1:

okay two more this is great Lauren great job with this quiz I'm personally fascinated Mary Cosby

00:31:18 - 00:31:37 | Speaker 2:

of Real Housewives of Salt Lake is a first lady of a Pentecostal church her fellow cast was scandalized to learn which of the following about her when the season premiered a she has many tattoos b she has a luxury shopping addiction or c she is married to her step grandfather

00:31:37 - 00:31:49 | Speaker 1:

i'm gonna go with c because it's delicious i'm gonna say i'm gonna go with c as well yeah because i think they all have a shopping addiction but like they just live with it and

00:31:49 - 00:32:41 | Speaker 2:

then I sit with it and then tattoos maybe is a close but yeah we're both going with C she's married to her step-grandfather in order to inherit her family's Pentecostal megachurch and its accompanying fortune Mary Cosby married her step-grandfather Robert Crosby Jr. Is she Cosby or Crosby? Well it's funny her name in both instances is spelled Cosby. I'm looking her up Mary Cosby but she's married to Robert Crosby Jr. unless that's a typo through a provision step-grandfather grandmother's will yeah they have been together for 20 years and share a teenage son um so that's in salt lake so huh interesting okay yeah okay michael salahi of the real house wives of dc gate crashed a white house state dinner honoring the prime minister of india i

00:32:41 - 00:32:48 | Speaker 1:

actually remember this i remember this like this made its way into like the real news cycle that

00:32:48 - 00:33:19 | Speaker 2:

you and i were both working on at that time she brought an entire camera crew to watch her preparations she a very white blonde woman wearing a sorry sorry had her photo taken with all the people below except for one which person did she not have her photo taken with joe biden barack obama kamala harris or rahm emanuel i'm gonna say this would have been during the obama administration it was yeah but did she get that close to the president i'm gonna say obama although i feel

00:33:19 - 00:33:54 | Speaker 1:

like that's too obvious and i'm wrong i want to go with you on this because my the logically the the hardest the most inner sanctum would be to get to barack obama so if she was not pictured with one of these people it would it would make sense it was barack because she could get all of the lowlights the rama manuals of the world right you would not to the not to the center of of the power there in the White House. So I'm going to go with you. I'm also going to mention that it appears she is engaged to Neil Schoen, or was married to Neil Schoen, who is the other guy from Journey. That's not

00:33:54 - 00:33:56 | Speaker 2:

Steve Perry. Oh, really? Oh, interesting.

00:33:57 - 00:34:00 | Speaker 1:

Oh. So I'm going to say Barack Obama as well. Okay, that was

00:34:00 - 00:34:35 | Speaker 2:

answer number B, Barack Obama. The answer is we are wrong. We have to start watching the show so that we can get this right next time. It was Kamala Harris. It was not photographed With her at the 2010 party Mikhail had a picture Shaking hands with Obama With Joe Biden's arm around her And with Emmanuel Their gate crashing Touched off a congressional investigation She later disappeared on her husband And after a frantic and public search It turns out she had run off With the journey guitarist Neil Schoen Oh my god

00:34:35 - 00:34:44 | Speaker 1:

Well this has been the most successful quiz We've ever done in that That's amazing It's converting me into a viewer This had exactly the effect that Lauren was hoping it would

00:34:44 - 00:35:10 | Speaker 2:

We gotta watch it with Lauren though While eating deep dish Yes, Lauren, I'll see you in Chicago Hey, let's thank some of our daily donors who are making today's episode possible with their generous financial support.

00:35:10 - 00:35:21 | Speaker 1:

We're talking about folks like Jennifer Bierman of Jersey City, New Jersey. Now, were there any Real Housewives of Jersey City, New Jersey?

00:35:22 - 00:35:42 | Speaker 2:

No, but there's definitely got to be some Real Housewives of New Jersey. There's got to be. I think that's a franchise. Well I think it was like I don't know what the first one I think it was the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Was the first one And then they branched out to New York And as we've learned Salt Lake City and Miami and Atlanta There's got to be a Real Housewives of New Jersey though

00:35:42 - 00:35:45 | Speaker 1:

Yeah but aren't they usually a city And isn't New Jersey a state

00:35:45 - 00:36:03 | Speaker 2:

I don't know if Andy Cohen Holds to any kind of Intense consistency on that But I mean I don't know We can Google it We can ask Max Wolkowitz of Brooklyn, New York, if he knows anything about this. Hi, Max. Thank you, Max. Thank you so much. Is Max one of

00:36:03 - 00:36:17 | Speaker 1:

our actor? Yes, Max is. Actor listeners? And Max is somebody who drew at least one if not two of the illustrations that appear on those TBTL postcards that we were giving away as thank you gifts recently. Oh, yeah. The Scooby-Doo one.

00:36:18 - 00:36:47 | Speaker 2:

Real Housewives of New Jersey. Yeah, it is. You're right. It's real. You know who was on it? Teresa Gidici. uh-huh uh thanks max thanks also to rocio grenier or rocio grenier of san diego california how would you how would you say all parts of rocio's name you know it's funny i was drilling

00:36:47 - 00:36:53 | Speaker 1:

down on something else over here but i'd say rocio uh grenier i'm not sure if i said the first time

00:36:53 - 00:36:56 | Speaker 2:

but I felt like I was maybe not nailing it.

00:36:56 - 00:37:22 | Speaker 1:

I feel like I messed up the last, but I feel like the C would be a CH sound. It looks like, and I'm sorry, I'm not trying to take away from Rocio's generosity, which truly, thank you. It looks to me like New Jersey is the only one that is not a city, with the exception of Orange County, which is a county. Oh, well, you know, yeah. It looks like they're all of Potomac. Is that just like the DC area? No, what's...

00:37:22 - 00:37:23 | Speaker 2:

Oh, they have Real Housewives of Potomac?

00:37:23 - 00:37:27 | Speaker 1:

But they also have Real Housewives of D.C. Interesting. Okay.

00:37:27 - 00:37:27 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:37:27 - 00:37:28 | Speaker 1:

Good job, Walt.

00:37:28 - 00:37:33 | Speaker 2:

Again, by the time we come back from this break, you and I will be the world's experts on all things Roni.

00:37:34 - 00:37:34 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, hopefully.

00:37:35 - 00:37:43 | Speaker 2:

Because of how well that quiz worked. Thanks, Rocio. Thanks also to Amber Doherty of Baltimore, Maryland. Do you know Amber?

00:37:44 - 00:37:53 | Speaker 1:

Amber has been a long time part of TBTL, and I'm pretty sure that we're Twitter friends or Facebook friends or something, so that name really stands out to me.

00:37:55 - 00:38:44 | Speaker 2:

Thank you, Amber, so much. And then thanks also to Betty Lee Minkler of Seattle, Washington. I'm just going to tell you, that's a good-ass name. Seattle, yeah. Yeah, really. From Chief Seattle. Yes, exactly. Yes, from the Native Americans who were there first. Thanks, Betty Lee. Also thanks to Brooke Latsky Davis of Portland, Oregon. Another good-ass name. Portland, Oregon, where I like to order deep dish pizza from, starting right now. Thank you so much to all of our daily donors. Thanks for making the show possible. That's going to do it for today's edition of the Winter Games. But guess what? We are going to be back here tomorrow with another round of the Winter Games for you. So please do join us for that. In the meantime, you said, hmm. I did say, hmm.

00:38:44 - 00:38:47 | Speaker 1:

I'm sorry. That was me reacting to my whole.

00:38:47 - 00:38:51 | Speaker 2:

joining us for tomorrow's Winter Games, Andrew? No, I'm glad

00:38:51 - 00:39:13 | Speaker 1:

it wasn't as obvious to you that I messed something up. My music was too loud and I pulled it down too far so for some reason I'm losing my ability to feather this knob, Luke. And so I had a little board-up mistake there and then I just made it worse by saying, hmm, right over top of it. What's going on?

00:39:13 - 00:39:16 | Speaker 2:

Alright, we'll see you tomorrow. Until then, And please remember, no mountain too tall.

00:39:16 - 00:39:17 | Speaker 1:

And good luck to all.

00:39:17 - 00:39:18 | Speaker 2:

Thank you.

00:39:28 - 00:39:29 | Speaker 1:

Power out.
