And I sat down at the desk, looked her right in the eye, and I said, Just call me Bond. Municipal.

00:00:11 - 00:00:14 | Speaker 2:

I don't know how you do it.

00:00:14 - 00:00:28 | Speaker 1:

I just come up with it. I just think of it, and I'm like, Ah, is that funny? Yes, it is. And then I just say it. You could get that offshore account shaken, not stirred. Just like his martinis in a James Bond song.

TBTL

00:00:32 - 00:00:57 | Speaker 3:

Look at that. It's time for day two of the TBTL Summer Games. I forgot that we don't play quite as much audio at the top, and I was doing some research on how to make a crispy egg over rice, Andrew. That was the sound of me realizing it's my turn to talk. By the way, I'm Luke Burbank right over there, my dear friend Andrew Walsh. Welcome.

00:00:57 - 00:01:12 | Speaker 2:

It sounds like your distraction, though, ties well into the promise that you made at the end of yesterday's. I mean, yesterday's show was good, honestly. One for the record books, I think. People are still talking about how we just nailed every aspect of it.

00:01:12 - 00:01:18 | Speaker 3:

We've only lost roughly 40% of our subscription base, which honestly, to me, seems like a win compared to what I was expecting.

00:01:18 - 00:01:30 | Speaker 2:

But you did end the show yesterday by saying today's show is going to be excellent. And maybe now I hear it might be egg-cellent, because you said that you were going to tell us about a salad that you're planning on making.

00:01:30 - 00:02:02 | Speaker 3:

Yes, but I also said at the end of yesterday's show that it represents me just kind of giving up from a culinary standpoint. I have decided that what I am really excited to make for my dinner tonight, or as part of my dinner tonight, is a salad that is more or less the salad you get at the Olive Garden. I'm talking red onions. I'm talking olives the size of your fist. I realized that I was half making it anyway because I'm a big butter lettuce guy lately. I really like that butter lettuce.

00:02:02 - 00:02:04 | Speaker 2:

The living butter lettuce?

00:02:04 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 3:

I don't do that one because it's got a lot of dirt associated with it. I didn't know you could buy it without the root. Oh, yeah, you can buy it in the box. I mean, it's not living, but you can buy butter lettuce where they got all the boxes of greens and fixings. Oh, I see. Oh, okay, yeah, like a mix. Okay, yeah. I am very intrigued by the living one, and I have purchased it before, but I don't know. It just seems easier with it to be pre-washed and in the little box and whatever. So that's kind of my go-to. But I was at the store today, and I was just like – and I have, by the way, I have fancy salad fixings here at home. And I don't know what came over me, but I was like, all I want – maybe it's because it's a million degrees as we're recording this. I was like, all I want to eat is a giant bowl of iceberg lettuce with some croutons and a little Parmesan cheese or whatever thrown over it, red onion cut up, and olives the size of your fist, as I've already said. The olives they have in the Olive Garden salad are upsettingly large. I went to the store and stood there and waited because people were taking their sweet time in the olive section to get the largest olives I could purchase to make this salad. I have regular-sized olives here, Andrew. They weren't going to be big enough. I need to create a salad that when I bite into it tastes exactly like I'm experiencing Hospitaliano.

00:03:31 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 2:

Okay, so I don't think I've ever had a salad there. Full stop. I don't want a salad, right? Actually, I do enjoy salads, but I don't think I've been to the Olive Garden literally since I was probably a teenager, and I went with my friend Tony Corey and his dad Doug. Rest in peace, by the way. Oh, bummer. Yeah, yeah, bummer. But I have some fond memories of going to the Olive Garden with them when we would be in the big city of Canton, Ohio, because Tony had left the small Valley City, Ohio, Hamlet and moved to the big city of Canton. And I was super jealous, but sometimes I mean that his dad would go out and visit him in Canton where Tony lived with his mom. And we'd go to places like the Olive Garden. And it was just like, are you familiar with the breadsticks? Anybody ever talk about that? Yeah, the breadsticks.

00:04:19 - 00:04:56 | Speaker 3:

I mean, the unlimited breadsticks and the unlimited salad. You know what you've got me Googling, Andrew? Olive Garden near me. And the good news is I don't right now live in a place that's over delivering on nuanced cuisine, if you know what I mean. That's not the move here in southern Washington But I feel very confident I can chase me down an olive garden somewhere But for today what I'm going to do Is I'm going to make myself A big olive garden style salad And I had white onions at home That's another thing I got red onions Because I remembered the olive garden ones It feels like they got red onion in there

00:04:56 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 2:

Weirdly, if you're going to put onion in a salad I do And... think it should probably be a red onion i don't know why i agree i put white onion in salad yesterday it was not good it's a strange yeah yeah i don't know if i could pass a taste test i don't know if it's a visual thing but i wanted to ask you and i'm not trying to give myself credit for every accomplishment that you um achieve in life just most of them but do you think that at any point this idea of the olive garden style salad had entered your consciousness because it wasn't all that long ago as we're recording this a couple of weeks ago as people are hearing it but um i was telling you how i was in the mood for a pizza for lunch which i didn't end up getting but i did go to a pizza shop and i got like a uh a salad that was exactly what you describe except for well actually that's not entirely true it was iceberg lettuce and just i don't know if there were onions on it but just sliced olives and an italian you know vinaigrette or whatever they put on italian dressing that's maybe not a vinaigrette did that sort of put it in your mind like oh a nice cold iceberg based salad on a summer day no i think what it was is

00:06:01 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 1:

i just use like i know people make their own dressing like becca makes salad dressing it's like the best salad dressing i've ever had in my life and i'm like what is that she goes i don't know it's like shallots and some white vinegar like she just like throws something together and it's so good i don't have the patience or the culinary acumen for that kind of stuff so what i do is i just buy some newman's paul newman brand italian dressing but something about i put that on the salad and i put some i put some parmesan on the salad too it was i what i realized when i took a bite was this is 50 of the way to being an olive garden salad if i can just get some olives the size of your fist yeah so that's what really had and i had white onion in that salad and i was like and i gotta get red onion so but again the reason i said this is represents the kind of my culinary decline is because this is not quote unquote a good salad this is like and i'm what i'm doing and this is what was so weird i had to buy an additional bag of salad fixings of the like much less nutritious you know much much less i don't know what you'd call it sort of like good for you or whatever roughage that is iceberg lettuce because i wanted to make the olive garden salad so i'm eschewing my fancy butter lettuce and my carrots and my health kind of healthy salad that's good for me. And I'm just going to eat basically a giant pile of water with huge olives in it and

00:07:20 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 2:

Italian dressing on it. This conversation does not inspire me to go to the Olive Garden. Sometimes when we talk about any kind of a food, whether it's a, you know, like a high, you know, kind of a fancy restaurant or a lowbrow or medium brow chain restaurant or what have you, like just mentioning it makes me want that food. I am so out of the Olive Garden vibe. And also maybe because it's so hot and i don't want pasta that i don't want to go to olive garden tonight but you just describing this makes me want to go to a chain restaurant like one from my youth that i have not been to in a long time like uh like i could do uh uh what's the grill and bar the applebee's do

00:07:58 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 1:

they still exist could i go to oh do they this is andrew this is this is what's so interesting so i put into the internet is there an olive garden near me guess what no because that that's fancy food for around here andrew i'm i realize i'm living in an olive garden desert i thought oh that'll be the that'll be exactly culinarily the speed no it's not because i think uh and i say this with peace and love i think a number of the folks that i live in the general area i now live would kind of think olive garden that's gonna be i'm not i'm not really into that level of cuisine now what they do have though when you search is there an olive garden near me and it says no the closest one's in vancouver washington they just go ahead and tell me there is an apple bees here though like they just were like you're not like if you're looking for an olive garden you're probably also looking for an apple bees and here we have one like there's on this map that google has presented to me it's every olive garden location in the northwest it's showing me the one in lake oswego the one in beaverton oregon the various ones around portland the one in vancouver washington there's only one other thing on this map one other restaurant that gets represented and it's the apple bees because they're like you're this is a kindred spirit i'm actually

00:09:07 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 2:

surprise there's not a red lobster on there i'm embarrassed that i asked you if they still existed because of course applebee's as we've mentioned several times on this show applebee's are often where you and i go if we're on the road together and we have the opportunity although boy i was driving somewhere the other day and i was thinking you know what i could use is a red robin you've been telling me about red robin for 20 gd years i'd never gone i was like yeah i don't whatever sounds like a burger place i thought it was gonna be like a friendlies or something which is like you know friendlies are fine but i don't crave a friendlies burger but having that red robin burger i was like oh that was really good i could do some of that with those cheese were they cheese sticks or cheese purge they were sticks yeah oh man they weren't the original but they

00:09:48 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

were still good so i just put in red robin near me there isn't one i'm sad i've moved out of the red robin district but it does the internet is telling me unfogettable 2 is still available boy The SEO.

00:10:00 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 2:

That Unforgettable 2 has done. I have to really tip my cap to them. Now, Andrew, on the subject of restaurants, our quiz today involves a reality show, if I understand right, that has just absolutely taken over pop culture. And I hope I'm not giving anything away.

00:10:15 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 1:

No, please. Let's get into this.

00:10:16 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 2:

But it's based.

00:10:18 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 1:

It got its start at a restaurant, which is not something that I realized until recently. So a while back, like, I'm going to say maybe, what was it, last winter or something? It seemed like Vanderpump Rules was showing up all over pop culture. If I turned on a podcast, any podcast, politics, sports, whatever, somebody on that show was talking about Vanderpump Rules. And I know that this show has been around for a little bit, but I was like, why is everybody talking about this now? And I even wrote a TBTL newsletter that sort of was me quizzing myself about what Vanderpump Rules is about. And I wrote like a Wikipedia-style article about Vanderpump Rules without looking anything up about the show just to see how close I could get to the real Wikipedia. This is why the open rate is so high on the TBTL newsletter. It's a very good premise. It was a good premise and a terribly failed experiment because it turns out I knew nothing. I assumed Vanderpump Rules was about some, like, kind of rich 20-year-old, maybe a, see, this is how far behind the culture I am. I thought it was going to be, like, kind of a Paris Hilton-y type of person, a young person who came from immense wealth, who goes around with her group of friends. Vanderpumping people up. And they have to, like, all follow her rules in order to stay in her clique. I thought she was kind of a bossy clique.

00:11:42 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 2:

She makes the rules. She's Vanderpump and she rules. And if you want to be in her posse, you've got to obey those rules.

00:11:48 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 1:

But I was completely wrong, and I should have known this, because listener Lauren sent in an amazing quiz the last time we did this, all about the Real Housewives franchise, and I had learned a lot about that. And it turns out, and I think this is what you're getting at, the Vanderpump Rules franchise is sort of an extension of that, right? One of the Real Housewives started a restaurant kind of business, an entertainment business in Hollywood? I think so.

00:12:14 - 00:13:07 | Speaker 2:

I know that this was news to me until Addy told me that, because I was like, and again, I don't want to give away anything from the quiz, and we should probably get rolling here, but there's something called Skandoval, which was somebody named, I think, Tom Sandoval cheating on somebody else. I see. I think his wife. And I was asking Addy, what is going on? She's like, well, they all worked at a restaurant together. So if I understand right, Vanderpump from Real Housewives, she bought a restaurant or started a restaurant. And then the reality show was the running of that restaurant. But then the people who work at the restaurant that are like ostensibly servers, although I guess they're probably at this point more entertainers who might occasionally bring you some cheese sticks. Their personal lives are now hugely of huge interest to folks. And so but I didn't know it was based on a restaurant. I thought like you, Andrew, I just thought it was a lady who was named Vanderpump and had a lot of rules.

00:13:07 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. And I'm looking at this quiz now. Lauren put together, like I said, like she put together a slide deck style quiz for us and has done that again. And if I remember, it was quite detailed with a lot of context to the answers and everything last time. So I'm looking at this now and I'm thinking that we might even need to hold this over. I'm already making this call because here we are. We've been chatting for 15 minutes or so. We this might be a two parter just based.

00:13:32 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 2:

I love it. No, let's not sleep on the obvious amount of hard work that was put into this. And also, let's make sure to read the content warning that is slide number two, Andrew.

00:13:43 - 00:13:45 | Speaker 1:

Okay, here, you read it, I have some music for you.

00:13:47 - 00:14:06 | Speaker 2:

Pretty mature themes ahead, because this show was and is built on infidelity and substance-fueled misbehavior. I tried to use as many euphemisms as possible, but parents and kiddos should be advised, these are some terrible people doing terrible things to each other. This is a show for schadenfreude Not emulation

00:14:06 - 00:14:28 | Speaker 1:

Not schadenkiddos Alright listen I have an idea too Since you already have this in front of you and you're reading it Can you give me the quiz? Absolutely Alright you give me the quiz I'll play the music over here This music comes from Vanderpump Rules I believe It's their closing music That's why I picked it And that way you can Oh wait you can't play buzzer sounds on your end either

00:14:28 - 00:14:30 | Speaker 2:

But don't they yell pump

00:14:30 - 00:14:38 | Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Where is it? There it was. Yeah, I heard it. You were only about a second late because of the slide.

00:14:38 - 00:14:40 | Speaker 2:

Hey, I was surprised I got that close.

00:14:40 - 00:14:41 | Speaker 1:

But you were game. Yes, that's an important thing.

00:14:41 - 00:14:51 | Speaker 2:

Well, listen, okay, question number one, Andrew, all right? Okay. Let me see here. I'm going to scroll through. This is, there are, wow, wow. It would appear 21 questions.

00:14:51 - 00:15:04 | Speaker 1:

Well, I think there's going to be a slide for a question and a slide for an answer, so I'm guessing there's going to be about 10. But I remember last time, Lauren had given all this context for it. And I kind of rushed through it. And I feel like this time I want to spend real time with this.

00:15:04 - 00:15:07 | Speaker 2:

Now, I've already in some way tipped you off.

00:15:07 - 00:15:08 | Speaker 1:

Nice.

00:15:08 - 00:15:32 | Speaker 2:

Thank you. To question number one. But I also could have been. I'm repeating something my daughter told me over dinner on Father's Day. So I could have gotten a lot of this wrong. But question number one does relate to that term Skandoval. Okay. So Skandoval is probably why you've been hearing about this show. It's denouement. First of all, I don't need a pronouncer on denouement.

00:15:32 - 00:15:33 | Speaker 1:

Is there a pronouncer there, Lauren?

00:15:33 - 00:16:23 | Speaker 2:

There's a pronouncer. You're hired. I don't know what we're hiring for, but I'm hiring Lauren to do it. Email Stacey back and tell her she's hired, and then she'll email you, and then you can both work for the show for no pay. Denouement has been described as the Super Bowl party for reality show watchers. What exactly is the scandal of all? Okay. What happened? What scandalized people? But what created the Super Bowl of reality TV watching was it, A, Tom Sandoval's longtime girlfriend getting—remember, parents, this is going to be a little racy—Tom Sandoval's longtime girlfriend getting, let's just say, a sexual enjoyment in the back of his car while he was driving. But the enjoyment that was being provided was by somebody by the name of Lala.

00:16:23 - 00:16:24 | Speaker 1:

Okay.

00:16:24 - 00:17:01 | Speaker 2:

So was it A, is the scandal that Tom Sandoval's longtime girlfriend was amorously involved with someone named Lala in the back of his Civic while he was driving? Is it B, Tom Sandoval's best friend Jax? That sounds exactly like a person who would work at the Vanderpump Rules restaurant. Jax was it his best friend Jax being intimate with Tom's girlfriend on her couch while Tom was asleep in the next room these are complicated so this is Tom's girlfriend

00:17:01 - 00:17:14 | Speaker 1:

either having some sort of sexual bliss in the back sexual bliss I'm going to say in the back of a car or his best friend getting intimate with the same girlfriend while Tom was sleeping in the next room

00:17:14 - 00:17:49 | Speaker 2:

How would you pronounce denouement? I don't know. I'll have to ask Stacey. Denouement. C, option C. Does Scandalval refer to Tom Sandoval having a seven-plus-month affair on his girlfriend of nine years with one of her closest friends? Is that the Scandalval? Okay. Or is D, the Scandalval, Tom Sandoval's ex-girlfriend, flying in a girl from Miami that he had a one-night stand with to confront him and his new girlfriend about him cheating.

00:17:49 - 00:18:29 | Speaker 1:

Wow, these are very complicated. Okay, I don't know if anybody can follow all the ins and outs of these, if you will. But I'm guessing that it's C or D based on what you said before the show, that it was something about Tom cheating. And it sounds like A and B are not about Tom himself cheating. So I am going to go, and because what little I know about reality television is it's obviously based on spectacle so this idea of tom what is so tom's ex flying in a woman that he cheated on her with to present this in front of a new girlfriend i'm gonna go with that if i understand what you set up i understand your your instincts there and i think i would have gone with

00:18:29 - 00:19:38 | Speaker 2:

the same thing but unfortunately that was where i worked the end of fortunately together so kind a portmanteau fortunately yeah it is actually c uh first thought best thought tom sandoval having i don't mean it was a good thought for him i mean your your instinct about c was correct uh he apparently is uh had an affair and uh with one of her friends and that is uh let's all read some context why all of these things have actually happened on the show wait what they all happened on the show oh sorry i really buried the fun part of this answer um i'm just still so hurt about having a pronouncer for denouement everything is the room is spinning andrew i also might be like i might be literally somewhat dehydrated i'm gonna open up a room temperature waterloo lemon lime bubble water okay i'm gonna have a little bit of turkey as we are because as we are recording this of course it's a very very very warm day um so while all of these things have actually happened on the show that is that's amazing that's quite amazing but the actual

00:19:38 - 00:19:53 | Speaker 1:

scandal was scandal not this not the presentation of uh of from an ex of a one-night stand but it was the what was he he cheated in some way that was what c did this is again this is just i love

00:19:53 - 00:20:00 | Speaker 2:

i love the level of detail while all these things have actually happened on the show tom and raquel parenthetically born racist

00:20:00 - 00:21:05 | Speaker 1:

Rachel. So I believe this person now goes by R-A-Q-E-L, Raquel. But I love that it's clarified. I love that Lauren clarified, born Rachel. That's got powerful Hilaria Baldwin vibrations emanating. Tom and Raquel carried on an over-seven-month affair behind the back of Ariana, Tom's mortgage-sharing girlfriend of nine years. The news of the affair came out after the show was filmed and while it was airing, so audiences got to watch their deception play out. The revelation of the affair came after Ariana found a video of Tom and Raquel engaging in a, let's just say, a FaceTime session that was saved on Tom's phone. I see. Interesting. That's a good old-fashioned scandal ball, Andrew, if I've ever heard of one. Well, that's certainly what I would call it. Yeah. Wow. Love the detail in the answer, by the way. Yeah. All right. Number two, VPR, which I guess is what we're calling. We live in a busy world, Andrew. We're all being pulled in all kinds of directions. Nobody has time to say Vanderpump Rules anymore.

00:21:05 - 00:21:08 | Speaker 2:

Literally thought you were talking about Vermont Public Radio for a second.

00:21:08 - 00:22:17 | Speaker 1:

Not joking. VPR started as a spinoff of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It had a backdoor pilot, I'll just leave that right there, where the Housewives show slowly faded. I love the term, by the way. While you love denouement, I love the term backdoor pilot. I mean, don't put that in Google, but yes, I do think. So this is, again, I'm learning so much, this is very interesting. I guess this is what a backdoor pilot is, in this context anyway, where the Housewives show slowly faded into the goings-on of Lisa Vanderpump's restaurant waitstaff. So this is very That Andy Cohen I'll tell you what Do you know that a former A person who I was engaged to Years ago Was office mates with Andy Cohen When they both were working As very very kind of I think mid-level TV producers Working on a reality show About Dog the Bounty Hunter I did not know that But Oh go ahead sorry And to think what What old Andy Cohen has done for himself From being a person who was Kind of behind the scenes and just trying to like, you know, basically piece together reality television programs to the empire that is Andy Cohen is really something.

00:22:18 - 00:23:42 | Speaker 2:

The reason I think the reason I know what Back to Our Pilot means, I think, or the reason I was reminded of it was because, so Back to Our Pilot is any episode of a TV show where they're thinking, you know what, we could have a spinoff on our hands here, But let's let's just create a special episode in the TV show that focuses on the secondary or tertiary characters and see how the audience responds to that. And I'm sure that like a lot of the spinoffs from that whole Laverne and Shirley world or whatever the whatever they were all branched off of came from like backdoor pilots. You know, like let's put more from Ork in an episode of Happy Day, see how people react. And if it's good, then we can spin it off. And so you're like piloting an idea, but you're putting it on another TV show just in the middle of programming. I love that term. I love the concept. And the reason it popped up recently was because I was watching that episode of The Rockford Files that hardly focused on Rockford at all. Instead, it focused on these Jersey gangsters. And I told Genevieve as we saw the trailer for it right before the show was going to begin, I was like, oh, this is how David Chase got the idea for The Sopranos. and then we saw that the episode actually was written and directed by David Chase and then I looked it up and it was supposed to be a backdoor pilot for a TV show that was never made that looked at the life and times of these Jersey gangsters and it was a backdoor pilot that was inserted into the Rockford files.

00:23:43 - 00:23:46 | Speaker 1:

Would you say you could have really used that that day, Andrew? That win you got?

00:23:47 - 00:23:50 | Speaker 2:

I could really use a win here, although I don't know why we're...

00:23:50 - 00:23:50 | Speaker 1:

That was a big win.

00:23:50 - 00:23:54 | Speaker 2:

Yes, although it is not connected to Paul Giamatti as far as I know in any way.

00:23:55 - 00:24:34 | Speaker 1:

That we can prove currently. VPR started as a spinoff, Real Housewives, backdoor pilot, and then they sort of shift the focus to the restaurant waitstaff. The big conflict was Beverly Hills housewife Brandy's confrontation with a server named Sheena. Now, I do appreciate the pronouncer on that one, Lauren, thank you. A server named Sheena over what? So, a Beverly Hills housewife named Brandy was getting into it with a server named Sheena at the restaurant. This was the big kind of start of the show. Was it how Sheena backed out on their handbag collaboration with Leanne Rimes?

00:24:35 - 00:24:35 | Speaker 2:

Okay.

00:24:36 - 00:24:58 | Speaker 1:

Now, well, I'm not going to try to explain. I'm sure the answer will get into this because I'm seeing a lot of Leanne Rimes in this. Okay. And even I know that there's some Glanville I think it's Brandy Glanville and Leanne Rimes I know there's some stuff going on there somewhere How Sheena slept with Brandy's husband Who eventually left Brandy for Leanne Rimes Whoa

00:24:58 - 00:25:07 | Speaker 2:

Or see how sheena ruined a catered event that brandy hosted in honor of leanne rhymes so i want to go

00:25:07 - 00:25:36 | Speaker 1:

with the sexual one because again i sort of feel like that's what's going to drive a lot of the plot titillation however because this was a pilot and it was supposed to be about the idea of you know a show based on people um running some sort of a you know a restaurant or what i said entertainment before that's not what i mean i'm gonna go with the um uh what do you say a catering event that seems more in line with maybe what the original idea of the show you're going to see sheena

restaurant industry a catering event that brandy was actually hosting in honor of the singer

00:25:41 - 00:25:51 | Speaker 1:

leanne ron that's what i'm gonna guess and i had to jump in there quickly because these these questions are so complicated i needed to get it out before i forgot and correct oh damn

00:25:51 - 00:26:05 | Speaker 2:

It was B, Andrew. If there's ever a story about somebody's cheating heart, my guess is that's going to be... I didn't know this, by the way, either. Let me actually double check, because I'm guessing that's what it is, but... Wait, wait.

00:26:05 - 00:26:07 | Speaker 1:

Oh, you didn't even look at the answer? You're just telling me I was wrong?

00:26:08 - 00:28:35 | Speaker 2:

Well, I was making an educated guess, and I was right that you were incorrect. What? The answer is B. How were you so confident about that? Because I remember, I know that Eddie Sibrian, who was married to Brandy Glanville, is now with Leanne Rimes, and it's a whole thing. Oh, okay. So I knew that was happening, and I guess I didn't think it was over a catering event. Okay. I think, I assumed there was, but that was just an educated guess, and thankfully I was right, because as I've said on the show and as I've demonstrated, my level of confidence around one of my answers on these things is never related to how likely I am to be right. that level of confidence you just heard from me totally unearned and I could have really had all of us hanging out to dry it was in fact the case that Sheena slept with Brandy's husband which then I don't know released some kind of crack in and now he is not with her, he's with Leanne Rimes Eddie Cibrian I didn't need a pronouncer on that Lauren, thank you I know my goss Cheated on a then pregnant Brandy With Sheena Sheena claimed not to know She was the other woman at the time Eddie was a serial cheater Who eventually left Brandy for Leanne Rimes After they had an affair On the set Of a Lifetime movie Wow And I didn't put that in my story When I did a Oh, because the Lifetime movie is not a Hallmark movie I did a Hallmark I would never do a TV story about such a scandal-plagued network like Lifetime. Scandal-plagued. We are going to thank some daily donors here before we wrap things up today. I am so excited on tomorrow's show, Andrew, to get back to this VPR quiz. What I love about it, and I know you wrote an entire newsletter about it, so I don't want to act like you're too good for this stuff, but this is not a pop culture space that you tend to play in a lot. No, not at all. I just mean any of these shows. Frankly, I don't get into these shows in particular, but I like my, what did you call them the other day?

00:28:35 - 00:28:39 | Speaker 1:

Not procedurals. Based around crime.

00:28:40 - 00:28:59 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, my not procedurals based around crime. there's a lot of the pop culture world that is pretty irredeemable that I do tend to kind of get into and you just don't very much which I think is respectable of you but I love this because for your job you have to think about Vanderpump Rules now you had to do it today and you're going to have to do it tomorrow

00:28:59 - 00:29:10 | Speaker 1:

I love that. For the record I don't think I'm better than that. I mean the stuff that I watch on TV or the stuff that I spend my time doing playing dumbass video games where I'm a remote control car chasing down a full size soccer ball is that better than Vanderpump?

00:29:10 - 00:29:18 | Speaker 2:

You're just into different things. You'll watch Rockford Files or Murder, She Wrote or something instead of the time that other people might fill with watching Vanderpump Rules.

00:29:19 - 00:30:00 | Speaker 1:

Although Rockford Files is objectively better than any TV show ever. By the way, my subject line on the email, the newsletter that I sent out way back in May was Vanderpump the Breaks, which I'm proud of. Let's just wrap this up really quickly before we think the donors. I just want you to know what I thought Vanderpump Rules was about. This was my guess. An American reality TV show, which, by the way, that's all right, based in Atlanta, Georgia, okay, that focuses on the adult daughter of a wealthy family and the drama surrounding her and her friend group. The series debuted on Bravo Network in 2020. I think it was, like, 1982. The series debuted in Bravo in 2020 after pausing production during COVID-19 pandemic. The show...

00:30:00 - 00:30:33 | Speaker 2:

turned with a second season in late 2022 it's currently in its third and most popular season that um could not have been more wrong i wrote the title references the strict unstated and sometimes shifting rules that one must follow in order to remain in the good graces of the main character it's also a slight play on words that also implies that it's it rules to be part of the vanderpump click click um i wrote all of that and i was not joking that is truly what that was truly my best guess of what i thought this show was about um let me did you have any no

00:30:33 - 00:31:18 | Speaker 1:

well bravo i think bravo was right hey look at that you know what i would say to that andrew bravo thank you i'll take the win let's um i know you could really use one let's thank our daily donors today these generous amazing people are making tbtl happen uh they they they traveled from apm land over here to too beautiful to biz town and we sure do appreciate folks like david zuckerman of a new rochelle new york it's still got that new rochelle smell it certainly does i love that uh also uh cheryl daly shea is supporting us from van buren arkansas oh wow boy i bet you it's warm in van buren arkansas andrew as i am recording these words because it is warm in kalama washington

00:31:19 - 00:31:29 | Speaker 2:

Let me say this. I think that maybe some names got put in the wrong columns here. I think that it was maybe Cheryl who goes by Shea. So I think it's maybe Shea Daly of Van Buren, Arkansas.

00:31:29 - 00:32:39 | Speaker 1:

Shea Daly in Van Buren, Arkansas, where I hope you are in the shade daily. Yeah, exactly. Because it's got to be toasty. Thank you, Shea. Marissa Uterberg is in Lakewood, Ohio. Long time listener. Thank you, Marissa. We've also got Laura Piles checking in from Shoreline, Washington. Strong, strong opening for the town of Shoreline, Washington. I believe both days so far that we've been thanking Daily Donors. We've hit on Shoreline. Thank you, Laura. Also, hey, it's our friend Nigel Herbig of Kenmore, Washington. Mayor Nigel? Yeah, Nigel was part of the real sort of Tammany Hall we had going for us. Sorry. So I am closing the windows here because I have the windows open, Andrew, So that I don't literally expire from heat But Also the wind starts blowing quite rapidly What I've noticed about living up here Is that when it's a hot day It's actually very windy I think that's kind of what happens Having to do with, I don't know Barometric pressure or something But if I have the window open too much It just starts to really blow But then if I close it I start to really expire So thank God we're almost at the end of the show

00:32:39 - 00:32:41 | Speaker 2:

And I would say if you expire That would blow

00:32:41 - 00:32:59 | Speaker 1:

Mandy Shunk is in Leawood, Kansas I feel like a couple of these places, now I just might have a bad memory, but Van Buren, Arkansas, and Leawood, Kansas, those seem, I'm not super familiar with reading those locators. I don't know if those are new, if that indicates that we've got some new donors.

00:33:00 - 00:33:08 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, maybe people heard that we were really, really needing support this time in order to survive and joined the fun. Thank you.

00:33:08 - 00:33:09 | Speaker 1:

Or they're just moving around.

00:33:10 - 00:33:13 | Speaker 2:

That's true. That's also possible. I like to think we have new donors, though.

00:33:13 - 00:33:30 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. Well, thank you so much to all of these fine folks that I've just named. Oh, by the way, Andrew, let me just check something real quick. I do believe this is only interesting to you, but guess what was just delivered to my door? USB-C to Ethernet dongle.

00:33:30 - 00:33:34 | Speaker 2:

You ordered that before we started recording two shows ago.

00:33:35 - 00:34:31 | Speaker 1:

In the real time in Amazon? I don't know where the warehouse is. And again, offering all of the obvious caveats and mea culpas and denoumas of Amazon is making the world a worse place. i know that i don't mean to get such glee from it but i did not think living out here would be putting me very close to some sort of center that's got a bunch of stuff in it because yeah you must be living near one man in in basically an hour in literally about an hour of real time andrew between when i was hefting my computer other computers back and forth from different parts of the house and trying to get this whole silly thing working and i thought i needed this one little connector piece um and i ordered it and in about 60 minutes or so it is now sitting on the porch that's quite something and again probably terrible for the world but but good

00:34:31 - 00:34:51 | Speaker 2:

for our broadcasting you mentioned on the podcast not all that long ago you named the actual name of your town on the show right kalama okay so you don't mind me saying this that um is there is that kind of near um i just had it in front of me here a second ago is that near vancouver Because there is a center in Vancouver.

00:34:51 - 00:34:55 | Speaker 1:

It's like 35 minutes north, 40 minutes north of Vancouver.

00:34:56 - 00:34:59 | Speaker 2:

So, wow. So somebody would have to get that order, process it. So, yeah.

00:35:00 - 00:36:07 | Speaker 1:

I feel like there must be some kind of secret location out here. Again, what I really need to do is plan my life better and try to make trips into one of the three kind of mid-sized towns that I now live near and try to support some local economy. I'm just shocked that that happened in like one hour. That's just kind of wild to me. It's also wild to me that here we are at the end of day two of the summer games, But we are just barely dipping our toes into this VPR quiz that Lauren put together. So thank you so much for listening today. We're going to be back here tomorrow with more Imaginary Radio for you. I'm going to get a – before tomorrow's show, I've got to get an actual cold beverage. I don't mean like alcohol. I mean like a not room temperature bubble water because it is just not going to suffice. Anyway, we'll be back here tomorrow with more Imaginary Radio. In the meantime, have a great Tuesday. Take care of yourselves, and please remember, no mountain too tall. And good luck to all. Power out.
