I know this is hard to hear, but we need to make some serious decisions about your mother's health. Let's be honest, she is getting on in years.

00:00:08 - 00:00:23 | Speaker 4:

Oh, snap. Okay, I see how it is. I see how it is. Well, yo, mama, so old, her last name is Asaurus. No, Mr. Lewis, it wasn't an insult.

00:00:23 - 00:00:28 | Speaker 1:

I was just saying that your mother's condition is deteriorating because she's getting older.

00:00:28 - 00:00:40 | Speaker 4:

Oh, see, that's cold, though. That's a cold one. Okay, okay, I see how it is. Hey, y'all, yo mama, so old, in her history class, they just wrote down what they was doing.

00:00:41 - 00:00:50 | Speaker 1:

Mr. Lewis, this isn't an insult contest. Not only is your mother elderly, but also her ability to walk is currently being affected by her weight.

00:00:50 - 00:00:57 | Speaker 4:

Oh, see, okay, it just got real. TBTL!

00:00:58 - 00:01:17 | Speaker 2:

all right hello good morning and welcome everyone to day four of the tbtl summer games my name is luke burbank i'll be uh helping out with the proceedings right over there is mr andrew walsh

00:01:17 - 00:01:43 | Speaker 3:

the longest running cobro of the show hello hey luke i'm trying to be careful with my microphone I don't know if you hear with the music going that we did have a siren, a truck with a siren going by. I'm assuming a fire truck. I'm actually amazed at how infrequently that happens, considering your proximity to a fire station. Often they don't turn them on when they're in our little nook of the neighborhood. They wait until they're on the main road.

00:01:43 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, that would make sense. I mean, I think this came up when you and V's first moved there. I think it's great, because with your sausage intake, let's be honest, you may need medical attention on the quick at some point, and they're right down the street.

00:01:58 - 00:01:59 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, absolutely.

00:01:59 - 00:02:00 | Speaker 2:

I like that for you.

00:02:00 - 00:02:12 | Speaker 3:

I've been playing with a lot of knives lately. You know what? This is something, speaking of my neighborhood, this is something that I've been meaning to say on the show, and this is going to be weird, Luke. So be prepared. This is a little bit weird.

00:02:12 - 00:02:16 | Speaker 2:

Weirder than us doing three straight days of Vanderpump Rules-related content?

00:02:16 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 3:

No, you're right. actually this is gonna be the least weird thing that happens today but um a while back going on a year ago now and i don't think i ever mentioned this on the show um genevieve and i were walking in our neighborhood we were headed to a bus stop where we were going to take the bus to the eagles club so that we could go watch a seahawks game there okay see now i'm not even being truthful with you we were going to the pinehurst pub i'm just remembering that was a lie it was not okay

00:02:47 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, but you weren't being unintentionally untruthful.

00:02:50 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 3:

You just forgot.

00:02:51 - 00:02:52 | Speaker 2:

That's okay. There's a difference. I just forgot.

00:02:52 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 3:

I really, like, I traffic in my transparency and honesty, and I sort of want people to believe what I say when it's coming out of my mouth. So my apologies. We were— I'm glad you caught yourself, and I'm glad you clarified. And I hope that everybody will be as forgiving as you are. That's exactly how Lisa Vanderpump would have wanted it. No, but this is a true story. With slight fabrications, I made it sound like we were going to a private club instead of a common bar. Now, anyway, we were going to meet some friends to watch the, you know, an afternoon Seahawks game. And we were kind of in a bit of a rush because we needed to catch a bus. But we passed a small family. I mean, they were a normal size family. We passed three people, two adults and a child. And as we were walking and again, this is almost a year ago. So my apologies that I can't remember their names. But the woman in the family said to me, are you Andrew? We listen to the show. And I was like, oh, my gosh, that's great. I want to say Kim, but I don't think Kim is right. And I was like, oh, my gosh, that's great. That's Kim Possible. What's that? That's Kim Possible.

00:03:53 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 2:

No, there's a show called Kim Possible. I was trying, but see, the joke didn't work because I was trying to make a joke that it was possible. But if I say it's Kim Possible, that means it's impossible. So I'm sorry.

00:04:04 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

Three days of quizzes on Kim Possible. So anyway, the reason I said this is going to be weird is this is just me using this platform to reach out to one person who, it's almost like the what is it missed connections sort of like we said a quick hello it was really nice to meet these folks I just sort of assumed oh we're going to run into these folks more and then we haven't and as Genevieve you know a month or two ago was planning the summer party I was like oh we should reach out to those folks they're in our neighborhood but I don't know their name I don't know where they live and so if you are still listening and if you're listening to the summer games person who lives in my neighborhood who also listens to tbtl will you please reach out to me at andrew at tbtl.net and um let me know because we should be in touch and also no pranksters nobody nobody steal this person's identity and try to become my best friend if you live in snohomish

00:05:00 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 1:

And if you heard Andrew's post-mort on Genevieve's party, I think that the danger of that happening is low. That is true.

00:05:07 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 2:

Nobody wants to be my friend anymore. That's not true.

00:05:10 - 00:05:40 | Speaker 1:

That's not true. But I'm just saying you're not overstating. I think it's great being friends with you, and I've really enjoyed it over the years. But I think you definitely do not over-hype the benefits of being friends with Andrew Walsh. That is true. Hey, speaking of misconnections. Yeah. So the other day on the Summer Games, you were telling a story, unless you cut it out, I don't know, about how you had heard somebody on the radio and thought that it was somebody that you had known in college. In fact, it sort of briefly dated.

00:05:41 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Was that? Yeah.

00:05:42 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 1:

And that then later you had learned it wasn't that person didn't even have the name that you were thinking.

00:05:46 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, yes, yes.

00:05:48 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 1:

But I was remembering when you were telling that story, and it's on the subject of misconnections. This is, I want to really, I want to really sort of temper everyone's excitement around this story. It's not that riveting. But when I was in, I guess I would have been in college, and it was one of the brief times I was kind of between relationships. I, somebody put a Miss Connections note in about me, having seen me somewhere. I forget where in town I was, but I was somewhere at a bar and somebody, I used to read the Miss Connections. Do we need to explain what the misconnections are for our younger listeners?

00:06:24 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 2:

I don't think we need to, but I guess it's always fun to. It was a part of usually an alternative weekly newspaper, although it might have been in regular papers as well, where you might write in to say, you know, you were riding an escalator at Pike Place Market. Me, I was carrying two loaves of bread and a fish. Wait, am I Jesus? Wait a minute.

00:06:45 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 1:

Wait a second. Did you just, did you write, that's the exact misconnection I responded to.

00:06:51 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 2:

But anyway, yeah, it's that type of thing. And then you're just kind of like, you know, we made eye contact and I felt like we had a moment, but I didn't have time to say anything. So you reach out to me. Here's my contact info.

00:07:02 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 1:

One of those actually happened for me. Yeah. And I mean, because I read that thing every week, praying it would happen. I love that section so much. Praying. I never, I don't think I ever placed one in there. I certainly thought of it many times, but mostly my dream was one day I would open that part of the stranger up and someone would be talking to me. That's a sort of a mix between Casey Kasem and Pat O'Day. And one day it was someone who was talking to me and somebody had seen me somewhere or we had interacted briefly and it was me. And I totally called the number.

00:07:33 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 2:

You on a unicycle.

00:07:35 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 1:

Yep. That was one of my first indications. You with a boa constrictor around your neck, casually waiting for someone to ask you about it. And I responded, and I went on a date with this person, and this person was probably 10 years older than me, a flight attendant for one major airline. Her name was LaTanya, and we went on a date or two, and it just turned out to be a—I just was like, I've got to explore this, but it wasn't a love connection, as they say. but then one day I was driving around listening to talk of the nation and who did they have on the line but a flight attendant for like American Airlines Latonya and then her last name and I was like that's my misconnection talking to

00:08:22 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 2:

Ray Suarez right now what and just talking about some topical news of the

00:08:26 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 1:

day or whatever it was something related to the airline industry and it's like Latonya in Seattle calling in and I heard I was like yep that's her wait wait

00:08:33 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 2:

but you have to tell us more listen we'll get to the vanderpump stuff nobody can get it twisted but you got to tell us like what was the scenario what was the missed connection were you on a

00:08:45 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 1:

unicycle on a no i think i was in no no no i think i was in i think i had like must have been in like a in a bar or a restaurant or something and like struck up a conversation with a few people i wish i had this i wish i could find this misconnection i know this is not to be confused with the very very regrettable I Saw You that I wrote once for The Stranger that also was published, where I was probably talking about some folks in a way that we don't really

00:09:10 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 2:

talk about folks anymore. That one is like I Anonymous

00:09:12 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 1:

now, right? Oh, I Anonymous, not I Saw You. What was I Saw You? I don't know. I never heard of it. I Saw You was another one. They had a lot going on there at The Stranger back in what I think of as its heyday. But anyway, I forget what the context was, but I knew it was me. I mean, I forget what the details were, but I remember just reading it. It felt like if you had played the Powerball and then you started reading the numbers in the paper the next day and they matched your ticket, I was like, I wear those kinds of glasses. I was at that place. My name's Luke.

00:09:43 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 2:

Do you think they named you

00:09:44 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

honestly in that? Probably not. I cannot remember. You'd think I would know the details better, but what I remember, I just remember it being like this amazing moment of realizing someone felt a connection to me and it was missed. And I was very...

00:10:00 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 2:

Again, I was very psyched about this. And then hung out with the person. It was fine. Again, there was what felt like a significant age difference at the time. I want to say this person was like 30, and I was like 20, which just – it's funny to think about the time when I thought 30 was very, very, very close to the end of life. But then, again, the reason –

00:10:20 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 1:

Did you say you look good for your age on your first day?

00:10:22 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 2:

The reason that I bring all this up is to say, like you thought you were hearing a one-time, I guess you could say, romantic sort of interest in your life. You thought you were hearing them on the radio. I was hearing LaTanya on the radio. And I don't know why. I remember just I was driving around in my shitty Honda. This was after, you know, our brief moment of going on a date or whatever. And I just remember being like, oh, yeah, that's that person that I went on that date with from the Miss Connections.

00:10:49 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 1:

And and this is the part that I find intriguing is you said you were probably around 20. Yeah, but it seems like too much of a coincidence that this person would end up like on a public radio show like that this person would even have that kind of liaison with the media, for lack of a better word. But like, so, you know, maybe this person was already somebody who kind of had their ear turned towards public radio and stuff. And maybe that came up in the conversation. But if you're 20 years old, are you even associated with public radio or radio at all?

00:11:24 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 2:

I'm working at KUOW, but I'm like the person who answers the phone.

00:11:27 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 1:

But still, though, that might have still just seemed like something that this person was intrigued by.

00:11:32 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 2:

I think this person was very smart. I mean, this person lived in the U District, I remember, visiting their house. Everybody calmed down. and i remember being kind of like oh that she was like a very she was a very a very smart uh i'm sure like a public radio listener from long before i was and um and so i don't think there could have been any connection to the fact that i was like at the very early stages of like literally answering the phones on weekday or something like it wasn't like i wasn't on air i wasn't you know i think it was just one of those things where i also heard someone who i had once had a very brief almost i I don't even want to say romantic, but a brief kind of like, will there, won't they moment, then heard them on public radio and was like, oh, holy shit, I know that person.

00:12:16 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 1:

Well, since I last talked to you and the listeners about this, I can't remember if this was on air or off air that I actually stumbled on the real person from my life. So you and I had this conversation off air. Is that correct? I honestly can't remember.

00:12:34 - 00:12:44 | Speaker 2:

I think you said on air that it was the wrong person. you had you were looking searching for the wrong name yeah and then when you put the correct name and you found them immediately and if i can just say yeah and that did happen on the show right

00:12:44 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 1:

that was suddenly like a bolt of lightning the real name came to me i'm like oh and it's the

00:12:48 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 2:

first result yes but then i asked you off air can't what is their name i'm curious and you said i hesitate to give this to you that is true that was hurtful i think i would hesitate to give to

00:12:58 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 1:

almost anybody but um i don't know i just only because no that's fair i mean it's fair but hurtful andrew like a lot of our relationship well i want you to know that i did and i think i said um obviously i'm not giving away first names here but i did say alex alex was her name alexandria um and um i last name is virginia her name was virginia horston um i uh have reached out several times um and you know i sent an email right away didn't hear back so i waited a couple of hours like a gentleman and no i did not i see where we're going with this i was like wait what

00:13:36 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 2:

did you the coconut fall on your head like there is no way you reached out to this person and

00:13:43 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 1:

there's no way you reached out to them twice um you know again it's it's kind of hard to say like as i said on the show and again i think this was yesterday's show um if there was if there was a reason for me to be in touch with this person I think that would be a nice thing in life like I think that you know like I don't think that she would be weirded out by hearing from me even if I did want to reach out and just say hey Alex remember me like it's been a while I'll bet you she'd be like oh my god it has been a long time great to hear from you I'll bet you a million bucks that's how that would go I'm not going to because of the dynamics because we were romantically involved all of those things but you know i um i think i told you this on the show but maybe not but um so i'm gonna say maybe about five years ago maybe a little bit more now i found out that like basically my best friend in high school uh had died he had taken his own life it really was it really messed me up um but i will also say that he and i were not close for the you know like he and i were not in any kind of regular contact in the probably the last decade of his life or so but you know this was during a time when I was on Facebook there were just a bunch of people from my past on Facebook and so you would just see their avatars from time to time I don't think he was especially active but it just sort of for me like kind of having

00:15:00 - 00:15:34 | Speaker 2:

Facebook as almost the social safety net of my past allowed me not to be kind of actively engaged with with friends whom I love from the past because they were just sort of there. It was easy to take it for granted. And then when I found out that Sean had died, like I just I mean, for somebody I had not talked to in a really, really long time, we were incredibly close in high school. Like and so that really sucked, as you could imagine. So I had another friend from that time. And actually, this friend's name was Henry. And Henry, I give...

00:15:34 - 00:15:38 | Speaker 1:

No, that was not the name of your stuffed animal you played Monopoly with.

00:15:38 - 00:15:41 | Speaker 2:

Well, it was the name of the stuffed animal.

00:15:41 - 00:15:43 | Speaker 1:

But we're not talking about a stuffed animal here.

00:15:43 - 00:17:27 | Speaker 2:

No, it's a fair question. Let me be clear here. I had three friends named Henry in my life. One was just a regular teddy bear named Henry. Then I got another teddy bear of the same shape and size only big And his name was Big Henry So retroactively I called the other teddy bear Little Henry But then years later in high school I would meet a human being named Henry Whom I give credit to a huge social turnaround in my life Now maybe this turnaround would have happened anyway I don't know It's high school Everything's changing your your personality changes your body change all that you know like all i know is up until sophomore year of high school i was always on the the fuzzy end of the lollipop as you would say socially speaking right as a younger person very bullied whatever in high school my first year of high school the place called waltz jesuit was that was really rough as well um maybe even the roughest and then i came to cleveland moved to cleveland with my dad and started going to this place called Saint Ignatius and I remember the first half of that year not being great once again new kid new school not super popular not exactly what you'd call a beefcake right but somehow I became friends with Henry I think we were in an art class together and he was a really arty guy he was like he wasn't goth but he's kind of quasi goth and listened to a lot of industrial music and wore one of those he just like he had a real sense of style about him and I think we sat next to each other and in an art class an art history class taught by pierre davidson who we later found out we believe his real name was peter davidson and we think he was just putting on airs by having

00:17:27 - 00:17:32 | Speaker 1:

us calling a raquel from vanderpump rules i'm pretty sure i mean that was what we all believed

00:17:32 - 00:19:10 | Speaker 2:

at the time this was pre-internet but we had it on good authority that this guy who was like kind of stodgy and strict and was like a short guy with like a a not a goatee but what do you call like a van dyke yeah kind of thing and he made a uh you know pierre davidson mr davidson was our teacher wow henry and i would sit in class and make fun of him um and and also like whatever we just kind of this is the group you go to power denny's with right well years at this point like i don't have any friends but then i think i think i well that's not entirely true i had met like kind of steve udich who had taught me how to smoke so that really helped so maybe i'm not giving Steve enough credit in my turnaround here, but either way, Henry was kind of... In your glow-up? In my glow-up. Henry was a connection to a whole other group of friends, a whole other group of friends, and I remember him and I smoking cigarettes in the gravel lot after school one day, and him introducing me to some people or whatever, and Henry was a huge part of, again, my kind of turnaround into actually ending up having a big group of friends in high school. All of that is to say, to come back to this story that I was telling you in more modern times, i lost my friend sean who i hadn't talked to in a long time and i realized when i looked up my friend henry i couldn't find much traces of him online anywhere he's a junior he shares the same name as his dad who was also an alumni of the high school so whenever i looked up his name i would just find kind of alumni records or donation records from henry senior and it kind of bummed me out because i had no idea what had happened to henry and i kind of was sort of fearing the worst and I don't know what finally broke through. Maybe I just went to the second page of search results on Google. I don't know what it was.

00:19:10 - 00:19:12 | Speaker 1:

You hit that little number two.

00:19:13 - 00:20:03 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, exactly. Did you know that there's more than one page? And I found him, Luke. He's an artist in New York City, just like Pierre d'Avignon. And I reached out to him. This is, again, probably like four years ago. I should drop him another note just to tell him I'm still thinking of him. And when I found, he's got a website, he's making art, he's living in the Big Apple, that never sleeps and i wrote to him he's like oh my god so good to hear from you i think about because we were very close um and uh he taught me how to do all kinds of drugs and um anyway it just meant i'm sorry we're nowhere near the the quiz right now but well no what we know is we've added another day of it meant the world to me to hear that not only was he doing well but that we could be in touch even though he just was somebody who didn't really have a need for social media and i I don't, I kind of don't. Yeah. blame him for that but it was really great it was a very happy ending to that story for me

00:20:03 - 00:21:55 | Speaker 1:

i i mean that is such a good feeling when you find out that somebody who you have like a lot of affection for or whatever is actually like is is doing well and and living what appears to be a fulfilling life because so often that's not the case you know and and not to get into judging about how anyone's life quote unquote turns out but i think when you're a kid you think everyone And at least and maybe this is maybe this speaks to the how fortunate my childhood was that I was in a very loving family and that I did not I was not the subject of a ton of direct bullying. I just kind of thought, well, I'm going to grow up to be an NBA basketball player and my friend Peter's going to grow up to be a famous cellist and everyone's going to grow up to be like I just thought everyone's just going to grow up to have the most incredible, you know, unlikely life. that's just what everyone gets when they grow up everyone just becomes has this like really spectacular life that's off the charts and nothing goes wrong for them that was sort of what i thought adult life looked like and then you get to be an adult and you just realize that like adult life is really complicated for all of us and so many people end up you know in the living a version of their life that maybe they didn't expect as a kid or or i didn't expect for them as a kid and i've you know in in my own life i've heard through the grapevine like about people that i went to school with who i didn't know super well but people that are my age or younger who've you know passed away through various circumstances it feels like as you get older there's more of a sort of drum beat of that too and i've got a couple of people that i know who kind of listen to this show occasionally and went to school with me who'll be like okay you know they'll give me they'll say did you hear about so and so um so when when the the actual information is like henry is living in the big apple and is is making art as and is really happy to hear from you i mean that's just like an That must be an amazing feeling. That's so awesome.

00:21:55 - 00:22:22 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, especially because I kind of carried it around for a while. Because it was the type of thing, you know, I talk about, like, Googling him or whatever. But it wasn't like I had gone on any kind of – it was like every now and then you just think of something and you Google it, right? And so it would be like kind of a passing thought. Like, oh, yeah, I should really follow up. Can I find Henry? Do a quick Google. Like, ah, I just find his dad stuff, you know, still in Parma, Ohio or whatever. But then, like – but then the notion passes and you just move on. I didn't hire a private investigator like I did for Alex.

00:22:23 - 00:22:34 | Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm. A private investigator called your brain Alright, Andrew You've stalled us long enough Let's wrap up our Vanderpump rules Okay, are we doing this?

00:22:34 - 00:22:36 | Speaker 2:

I was even wondering Yeah, let's do it, okay

00:22:36 - 00:23:10 | Speaker 1:

Only because listener Lauren put a lot of work into it And also I feel like we've done a lot We've done roughly 22 plus minutes of non-Vanderpump content Okay Except for the time when I connected your art teacher to Raquel Who we think was originally named Rachel Yeah, that's a pretty good connection there To fully Pierre her name up. No, I love that. So in that way, it was VPR-related. But otherwise, I think we've been – this is a show that when we look back on it, when historians come back and study this episode of the Summer Games, they'll say it wasn't over-indexed on Vanderpump content. And I think that's probably good. Shout out to Steve Zind. Exactly.

00:23:10 - 00:23:11 | Speaker 2:

Who was a host on Vermont Public Radio.

00:23:11 - 00:23:48 | Speaker 1:

question number five also uh if you don't know who vanderpump rules is please go back and see our previous two hours of content on the subject over the course of the last the previous two days uh we're back in jack's taylor land here andrew jack's taylor is the ultimate oh the other thing i do need to report uh repeat though is was lauren's um i guess disclaimer caveat that said that this is the show vanderpump rules is a bunch of people who appear to be treating each other pretty poorly and um it's not it's it's not aspirational we're not celebrating the behavior we're we're documenting it and we're studying it so that it can never happen again and they put

00:23:48 - 00:23:53 | Speaker 2:

themselves in adult situations that might not be for all audiences if i understand exactly right

00:23:53 - 00:24:11 | Speaker 1:

so jacks taylor is the ultimate villain from the first few seasons in one of the first big scandals of the show so this would have been pre-scandal of all he um let's see uh oh whoops I'm sorry. There are so many Jax Taylor-related questions that I started reading the wrong one there.

00:24:11 - 00:24:14 | Speaker 2:

Is that one that we already did? Because I was like, oh, I think we might have already done this.

00:24:14 - 00:25:45 | Speaker 1:

I have a chance. We have already done that. I am sorry. This is another Jax Taylor question. Question numero six. Jax Taylor embodies the lying and cheating that put the show on the map. He cheats on multiple partners in a variety of ways throughout the seasons. He cheated on his now wife, then girlfriend, Brittany, with another woman. And I will say this, not to—moralize is the wrong word, but, like, if you are cheating on someone who you're supposed to be in a monogamous relationship with on a television show, I think you have to have a sense it's going to get out. I mean, I don't know how this was discovered. Oh, I see. But I'm saying, like, there seems to be a certain willful—almost like you're self-sabotaging here. Like, you can't think—like, there are— If there are cameras following you as you go into the no-tell motel, you can't think this is going to be like, you're going to be able to keep this hush-hush. Right. It quickly becomes the tell hotel. Exactly. The no burns out. You know how the neon... Yeah. And it goes from the no-tell to just the tell hotel. Damn it! If I would have known it was the tell hotel, I wouldn't have gone here. Okay. He cheated on his now wife, then girlfriend, with another woman, ironically named Faith. to add insult to injury faith secretly recorded jacks post um let's say coital speaking poorly of britney um by the way now wife then girlfriend i don't know when this came out in the timeline but boy that's um some real um it's really sticking with someone when the brakes are beating

00:25:45 - 00:25:50 | Speaker 2:

the boys as they say well wait it sounds like this is the he cheated on this person but they're

00:25:50 - 00:26:09 | Speaker 1:

now together yes i'm saying yeah he cheated he had it sounds like he had a girlfriend cheated on the girlfriend did so with someone who was surreptitiously recording him after the cheating had occurred and in that moment he is saying critical things about his girlfriend who he's cheating on the girlfriend who's now his wife

00:26:09 - 00:26:15 | Speaker 2:

yeah the girlfriend who's now his wife I wanted to make sure I understood that correctly well it's nice to forgive it's nice to be nice that's right

00:26:15 - 00:26:31 | Speaker 1:

some people are just really able to you know kind of move on I guess now where were they recorded where was this event Where were they at when he was being recorded? I'm saying these hurtful things while having just done a hurtful thing. Were they?

00:26:32 - 00:26:41 | Speaker 2:

So hold on. I'm sorry. This sounds like I'm trying to be obtuse here, but I'm being serious. So this is a recording that happened post-coitus.

00:26:41 - 00:26:41 | Speaker 1:

Yes.

00:26:41 - 00:26:52 | Speaker 2:

Okay. I'm led to believe from this question. Okay, gotcha. So the question is sort of where did the coit happen? Where did these Watergate tapes get recorded?

00:26:52 - 00:27:05 | Speaker 1:

Where did we coit? Exactly. Coits will be coits Who coited who I think coits will be coits is good A was this recording in an alley behind the S.U.R. restaurant which Andrew we now know

00:27:05 - 00:27:07 | Speaker 2:

Oh stands for super unreal restaurant

00:27:07 - 00:27:55 | Speaker 1:

Sexy unique restaurant Was it B in a church After a meeting For sex addicts Wow Was it C in the home of a sleeping 90 year old woman That Faith was working for as a home health aide Hmm Or was it D in Britney's mother's house? Now, remember, Britney would be the person that he was being unfaithful to. I'll bet you it was in Britney's mother's house. I think that sounds very plausible, or maybe C. Even this show I don't think could pull off option B. The church. In a church after a meeting. Yeah, that seems true. That's more like something that would happen in a David Cronenberg film. Sure, yeah. James Spader definitely did that. The answer, Andrew, is in fact not D, Brittany's mother's home. It's C, and the home of a sleeping—

00:27:55 - 00:27:56 | Speaker 2:

God, that was going to be my other one.

00:27:57 - 00:28:14 | Speaker 1:

Have I gotten—I don't think I've gotten any of these right. And that, Andrew, is a very good sign for your humanity. I suppose. I think that's the takeaway. I think I've gotten them all right, and you've gotten them all wrong, and I think that says everything you need to know. No, because that paints Lauren as a bad person. I don't like that. Oh, yeah, you're right. Well, no, Lauren is a bad person.

00:28:14 - 00:28:18 | Speaker 2:

Well, that is true, but not because of this, though, because of other things that we cannot talk about.

00:28:18 - 00:28:35 | Speaker 1:

question number seven Jack sneered this now famous line while berating Tom Sandoval Tom Sandoval sounds like a character out of the talented Mr. Ripley oh yeah I feel like or out of a no you know maybe out of Catcher in the Rye it just feels like such an essentially American name to me

00:28:35 - 00:28:43 | Speaker 2:

oh you mean oh you know what okay sure sure sure what's the what about the Great Gatsby that's what you're going for sure yeah you know what

00:28:43 - 00:29:20 | Speaker 1:

I think Great Gatsby more than all of them I think you're right that's a point Jack sneered, that is definitely a point, this now famous line when berating Tom Sandoval during a rant likely fueled by, let's say, illegal drugs. What was the line? This is a famous thing that was sneered at Tom Scandoval Sandoval by Jack's. I put the sir in sir. I put the S-I-R in S-U-R. I put the sir in sexy, what's the U stand for? Unresponsive. Unresponsive restaurant. I mean, when you call in in order to pick up, the response time is ridiculous.

00:29:20 - 00:29:22 | Speaker 2:

You may be getting takeout at one of these places.

00:29:23 - 00:29:24 | Speaker 1:

B, I'm the number.

00:29:25 - 00:29:25 | Unknown:

I love that.

00:29:26 - 00:29:59 | Speaker 1:

I just love their chopped salad, Andrew. Like, it's a restaurant that only exists for people who've watched the reality show to go gawk, right? And to just take pictures in front of the sign and just to, like, go back home. I'm not judging anyone, by the way. Like, live your life. You know, we talked about this the other day. I watch plenty of stuff that there's not a lot of argument that it's making the world a better place. This is totally not judgy, but the idea that you would be picking up food from one of these restaurants purely because you like the food so much instead of all the other ambiance and whatever goes with it that's related to one's love of Vanderpump rule.

00:29:59 - 00:30:00 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, and you're like...

00:30:00 - 00:30:03 | Speaker 1:

you're a difficult customer like well can you can you put the plastic cutlery in there but

00:30:03 - 00:30:33 | Speaker 2:

keep it separate i don't like it when it's warm i put the sir insert b i'm the number one guy in the group or c i'm the one who rules i've said at least two of those things to you at some point if if you bleed for me is d that would be amazing that would have been pretty funny from lauren but it would have been a dead giveaway is it i put the sir and sir i'm the number one guy in the group or i'm the one who rules it's only three only three oh well then i guess i'm gonna go with

00:30:33 - 00:30:38 | Speaker 1:

yes i guess i'm gonna go with d no i guess i'll go with c i'm the one who rules c i'm the one

00:30:38 - 00:30:56 | Speaker 2:

who rules come on incorrect give me a goddamn break it's good andrew you don't know you're jerks i want one i'm the well there's many more don't worry there's i told you a question that just says hang in there okay i'm the number one guy in this group you know that was my kind of

00:30:56 - 00:31:11 | Speaker 1:

instinct because then i was like well i'm the one who rules is a little bit kind of on the nose but i also thought well this show might be a little bit on the nose they know they're on tv i could see them getting you know that going to their head a little bit but my instinct it appears uh uh oh

00:31:11 - 00:31:46 | Speaker 2:

you mean and them saying i'm the one who rules yeah because you know vanderpump rules oh right i'm the one that pumps this show up and i rule they should have used that that's pretty that's pretty good man so you're a punch-up writer i was before the strike andrew and you're lucky i'm even doing this show with you right now uh lauren has put a funny uh explanation but let's just suffice it to say it was it was yelled one time while possibly the person was on what they call pasta in the show which is also i guess a euphemism for another kind of uh an illegal drug

00:31:46 - 00:31:51 | Speaker 1:

that one might snort i'm assuming cocaine yeah yes that's a funny nickname for cocaine eight

00:31:51 - 00:33:07 | Speaker 2:

Number eight, question number eight. Which of the following is not a cringeworthy detail of Skandalol? Oh. The first time Raquel, previously named Rachel, now I'm just adding that part. Yeah, sure. And Tom Sandoval admitted to hooking up was the night that Ariana left a group trip because her dog died. A lot of twists and turns to that question. So the idea is that Tom Sandoval and Raquel were being especially disloyal to his girlfriend because she was dealing with the trauma of having a pet that passed away. This is not a thing that happened, by the way, as part of Scandival. So was it not that? Was it not when suspicions were raised when Raquel slept over at Tom and Ariana's house when Ariana was away at her grandmother's funeral, Andrew? Was it C, did this happen or not happen? Tom and Raquel were matching lightning bolt necklaces during their affair. That would be noteworthy if someone you were dating for a long time and owned a home with suddenly was wearing a matching necklace of somebody who you had maybe suspicion they were a bit cozy with. D, did this happen or not happen? Raquel's singing Let's Give Them Something to Talk About with Tom and his cover band. Andrew, if I gave you a million dollars, could you guess what Tom Sandoval's cover band is called?

00:33:09 - 00:33:11 | Speaker 1:

Covering Bonnie Raitt, The Ring Raitts.

00:33:13 - 00:33:19 | Speaker 2:

I think they do multiple songs, not just Let's Give Them Something to Talk About, but they're called Tom and the Most Extras.

00:33:19 - 00:33:20 | Speaker 1:

Oh, good grief.

00:33:21 - 00:33:37 | Speaker 2:

and then, or was it E, did this happen or not happen? Did Tom dress up as Raquel for Halloween while they were having an affair? So what it sounds like is there was a lot of kind of flagrant behavior going on that one of these flagrant behaviors did not happen.

00:33:37 - 00:33:42 | Speaker 1:

Oh, one of them did not happen. Did not happen. Oh, that's right. Okay, so first one is like cheating or something.

00:33:42 - 00:33:45 | Speaker 2:

Hooking up when the dog died. Hooking up when the dog died. Hooking up when the grandma died.

00:33:45 - 00:34:06 | Speaker 1:

Hold on, hold on. I need to internalize this. So dog dies, and they're doing some hooking up. funeral I believe for a grandma and there's some hooking up is that basically me there is singing a song in a cover song by Bonnie Raitt there's dressing up like each other for Halloween I'm missing one

00:34:06 - 00:34:09 | Speaker 2:

matching lightning bolt necklaces whilst the affair is going on

00:34:09 - 00:34:10 | Speaker 1:

I'm going to say that's the fakie

00:34:10 - 00:34:15 | Speaker 2:

he did not in fact sing let's give him something to talk about

00:34:15 - 00:34:17 | Speaker 1:

oh that's a bummer that's the only thing that made me like him

00:34:17 - 00:35:19 | Speaker 2:

Tom has a regrettable cover band That he fronts And fully funds He is still What is he Jim Ursay Of the Indianapolis Colts I consider this to be More of a Colts Related conversation Andrew Than a Vanderpump Rules Raquel had just recently Aged out of the Miss USA pageants Which do not have A talent portion Although she did fall off A boogie board While pantomiming Surfing During the swimsuit portion You're deep in it Lauren There's a lot there Now we've made it to question number nine, Andrew. Hang in there. And because we've come this far, and this is the last question, we have to do it. Tom Sandoval took to Twitter to express his disappointment about which of the following questions... quote-unquote, affronts following Skandalval. Which of these is an actual affront, and that's in quotes to Tom, in the wake of Skandalval? It also sounds like a wonderful week in Rio. Skandalval. Yes, it does. That's when the world descends on Rio to party down day and night.

00:35:19 - 00:35:22 | Speaker 1:

For some reason, Arnold Schwarzenegger is there, but we don't know why.

00:35:23 - 00:35:27 | Speaker 2:

A, Ariana said during the reunion that she hopes her dead dog haunts Raquel.

00:35:27 - 00:35:30 | Speaker 1:

This is something that he's talking about on Twitter

00:35:30 - 00:36:42 | Speaker 2:

This is something that he's gone on Twitter to sort of clap back against So which one of these is a real thing that he clapped back against Was it Ariana saying she wants her deceased dog to haunt Raquel, previously known as Rachel Was it James Kennedy, which is Raquel's ex-fiancé, calling Sandoval a worm with a mustache That's a pretty good That's a pretty good burn Was it C, Glamour Magazine publishing an article about how Tom Sandoval ruined white nail polish? Was it D, Ariana selling t-shirts that said, bleep me in this shirt after Sandoval decried their intimacy as being subpar since she didn't even take off her t-shirt? So I guess he was critical about her fashion choices during their romantic sessions. and so now she's selling t-shirts that are making fun of that that are financially capitalizing on that it's so funny because almost every one of these Andrew could be ripped directly from your own life I know that's the thing that's so wild you're doing it so bad and yet everything I'm reading on question number nine it's all stuff that I know you've been a part of in one way or the other in your life

00:36:42 - 00:36:48 | Speaker 1:

it's strange to hear it echoed back you know what I mean Right.

00:36:49 - 00:36:55 | Speaker 2:

Exactly. So which one of those was it? Are we still playing? Yeah, we're still. Well, you have to give the answer.

00:36:55 - 00:36:56 | Speaker 1:

Let's see here.

00:36:56 - 00:36:59 | Speaker 2:

Was it Ariana selling T-shirts, making fun of him, making fun of her?

00:36:59 - 00:37:08 | Speaker 1:

I'm going to say white nail polish. Andrew Walsh. Did I get it right? Absolutely right. I don't know why that one seemed right to me, but I'm glad I got one right out of nine.

00:37:09 - 00:37:21 | Speaker 2:

And as Lauren says, all of these other answers are actual events from the show. However, he was seemingly most butthurt about being targeted for being a fashion don't. That's pretty funny. That is.

00:37:23 - 00:37:29 | Speaker 1:

Everything that could be said about it. It's just like, come on, I ruined white nail polish. Come on, I ruined white nail polish. Sure.

00:37:30 - 00:37:44 | Speaker 2:

And then nobody can see this. This is the deck that I'm reading from Lauren, but it says, The End, thank you for playing, and I hope you still have brain cells and a sliver of hope for humanity. I do. And it just has a picture of Tom Sandoval ruining white nail polish.

00:37:46 - 00:37:53 | Speaker 1:

I feel like I should wear some white nail polish today to honor him. Somebody's got to bring it back, Andrew, and you're the person. Yeah, that's my in.

00:38:05 - 00:39:36 | Speaker 2:

We've got to thank some daily donors before we get out of here today. These are the wonderful, supportive, generous folks Who did just such a difficult thing, Andrew And I'm not even joking You were talking about having I don't want to compare these two things But you were talking about having the thought many times Oh, I should find out about my friend Henry But then kind of meaning to do it But then not getting to it And there are so many little things in life like that That would take ten minutes But you just never feel like you have the right ten minutes These people These people, Andrew They took ten minutes to go from donating to the old TBTL platform when we worked at the other company to supporting TBTL version 4. Did we decide we're on V4 now or something? Oh, you know, I'm not sure. We call them the awesome years. TBTL.4. They decided to support TBTL during this new amazing phase of our show's life, and we just would not be here without folks like Lisa Davenport of Cathedral City, California. Oh, never heard of that. Nice. Thank you. Um, um, like let's Lisa's name. Well, she has the, I don't want to make any comparisons, Lisa, but I'm saying you could have a reality show in your future. Lisa Vanderpump, Lisa Davenport. Sure. Lisa's the key. Lisa Dan, Lisa Davenport's reality show would be full of her being nice and supporting and supporting podcasts, which I don't know if that has the, what do they say? Frigion of the, this is, I don't know if that just, if that, if that has the controversy to, to power an entire reality show empire, Lisa, our Lisa might just be busy being a

00:39:36 - 00:40:00 | Speaker 1:

good person and being nice i mean would that be a show if you follow along while people donate to causes they care about is this a cause i don't think we're a cause no i regret that word cause for regret yeah yeah ask lisa now we're getting to the real scandal of lisa davenport uh bettina ackerman is in kihei hawaii hope you're doing all right yeah

00:40:00 - 00:40:05 | Speaker 2:

Thanks for supporting the show, Bettina. I also think, I hope I said Kihei right. I think I've been to Kihei.

00:40:05 - 00:40:24 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, Kihei, yeah, that's on Maui too. So, you know, I think that Kihei, I shouldn't speak on this because I don't know of it, but I think Kihei missed a lot of the major damage of the fires that Rampage threw a few weeks ago, but I'm not 100% sure. But either way, Bettina, hope you're okay.

00:40:25 - 00:40:32 | Speaker 2:

Absolutely. We've also got to thank supporter Rob Love. Let's go with Rob Love.

00:40:33 - 00:40:33 | Speaker 1:

Okay.

00:40:33 - 00:40:36 | Speaker 2:

I was going to wait for a couple shows to read Rob's name, but I decided I'm going to go ahead and do it right now.

00:40:36 - 00:40:38 | Speaker 1:

You have a history, obviously.

00:40:39 - 00:42:02 | Speaker 2:

We do, but we're getting past it. I mean, Rob's made a huge, he's offered a huge olive branch by being one of our financial supporters. Rob is in Richmond, Virginia. Also, Donna Myrdal is in Fullerton, California. Thank you, Donna. Good to see your name on the list. Hey, look who it is. One of my favorite Bruce Springsteen enthusiasts, Pam Ketzner, down there in Tacoma, Washington. What an absolute darling. I saw Pam at the 4,000th episode. Pam, thank you so much for your support. And then Christopher Shade is in Barrington, Illinois. Christopher, as we are recording this, I could use a little Christopher Shade around here. It's roastingly hot It is very hot But in the meantime we will absolutely accept And thank you for your financial support Of the program I mean it when I say we could not be here without you So thank you so much And thank you to everyone who Enjoyed slash tolerated Three days of Vander Vanderpumping on this show I promise it'll be That's like whenever I've worked with Like a co-worker who also had recently had a baby And when they have to go pump They'd go like, hold on, I've got to go pump. They've got to go find a quiet room somewhere and express their breast milk for the baby. That was like us going, I'm sorry, we've got to Vanderpump. Just everybody, hold on, we've got to Vanderpump for three days.

00:42:02 - 00:42:08 | Speaker 1:

You might not know this because you don't live there anymore. Do you know that somewhat recently they changed the law in Oregon so you can Vanderpump your own gas?

00:42:10 - 00:42:25 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I know that. I know that they changed that. I still, I mean, that was a while ago as this is airing. I still can't exactly figure out how that got done. After all these years, I mean, if if it was that law was going to change, it should have changed 50 years ago.

00:42:25 - 00:42:33 | Speaker 1:

Like, I don't really think I could be wrong about this, but I think the pandemics like a lot of things started to loosen some of those strictures.

00:42:34 - 00:42:57 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, there were hours where you and in fact, it's even as we're recording this on hot days, they'll do it rightfully. So they'll basically create hours of the day where you've got to pump your own gas because it's not actually safe for people to be out pumping the gas because of the heat. So, yeah, now Oregon is all caught up with, I think there's one other state that still doesn't have pump your own gas. It's like Jersey.

00:42:57 - 00:42:58 | Speaker 1:

Jersey, I believe, yeah.

00:42:59 - 00:43:10 | Speaker 2:

All right, well, thanks for listening, everyone. We'll be back here tomorrow with day five of our Vanderpump quiz. So please do tune in for that. In the meantime, have a great Thursday. Take care of yourselves. And please remember, no mountain too tall. And good luck to all.

00:43:15 - 00:43:16 | Speaker 1:

Power out.
