I think the ping pong ball that I was grasping at before is one of the things that I one of the many things I'm having trouble wrapping my head around today and will for a long time and honestly have been since since 2015, really, is this idea that you and I are doing this show today, which is, you know, kind of we're trying to be hopeful. But, you know, it's a very special episode, as they used to say in the 80s. It's a and we're treating it like it's almost a funeral for democracy. And when I think about this stuff and especially leading up to Election Day, I think a lie that I was telling myself kind of similar to your story there about the about the crypto bros or whatever, is that the people who are super motivated to vote for Donald Trump are the people who, you know, they're like the guys that I met at that dive bar outside of Phoenix, Arizona, who are all wearing MAGA hats and we're all like basically like it's so it's so imprinted on their identity of being kind of like redneck, you know, Trump people and like one guy bragging about peeling a Biden sticker off of some lady's car or something. i'm doing it for our own good if you remember that story yeah um and um and i think about that i'm like yeah but there's not but you know like what's the casual voter yeah like how many of them are going to vote like some of them are some are very motivated but also some are just probably like trolls and just love owning the libs and all that but i just sort of the thing that i can't shake now is that i think there are just like there's like a huge chunk of america that i mean who would listen to our show today or see the types of text messages or tweets or the things that our listeners are sharing on Slack. And there's a huge chunk of America that just be like, well, I just voted. I just didn't. I just voted conservative. I always vote conservative. You know, like there are some who would be like, yeah, we're owning the trolls. Look at them drinking lib tears this morning. Like, OK, that that's fine. We knew about them. But I think the Tazo tea that I do feel that there's a trap that I fall into of just picturing um that is the trump contingency contingency and and the and the and the sad thing is is just like this is kind for a lot of people out there this is probably a somewhat normal day and we're like we're outliers and i i don't know i i think i'm starting to figure out like have i been being gaslit like i'm actually last night i'm just like maybe i'm just like wrong about a whole bunch of shit like literally maybe just wrong and i don't even mean prognostication Just like, you know, maybe I am just like being fed just a very specific diet of specific news coverage that fits a worldview that is just completely I'm just believing the gaslighting now.
