And to go down in fame as the Super Bowl champions of this year, this team should be feared. You better saddle up when you roll.

00:01:06 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 2:

All rightily. Hello, everyone. Welcome to a TVTL No Point Conversion special Tuesday edition of the show. Once again, we're going to be recording official TVTL a little bit on the later side today. So we're dropping this into the feed. As Andrew said yesterday, this is not TBTL, even though it is occurring in the place and at roughly the time when you're used to getting TBTL. It's like when you take a bite of an onion, but you're smelling a strawberry. It's confusing to your senses. But what this is is our little sports show. And then in hopefully not more than a few hours from now, we will be bringing you regular old Tuesday TBTL. In the meantime, I'm Luke Burbank right over there, my friend Andrew Walsh.

00:01:53 - 00:02:00 | Speaker 3:

hello oh hello sorry i thought i was gonna say hello andrew hello buddy it just i that's on me

00:02:00 - 00:02:15 | Speaker 2:

sorry about that i um you know andrew i had to check down there i i you know what i said uh kill kill kill at the line i called the play off and uh and i called a different play and clearly you weren't able to hear me over the din of the lumen field crowd what i was trying to do was i was

00:02:15 - 00:02:22 | Speaker 3:

trying not to go off sides i thought you were kind of using a hard count on me and i was trying to Yes, that was smart of you.

00:02:22 - 00:03:58 | Speaker 2:

You were trying to not pull a Carlos Dunlap and line up in the neutral zone. Although I will say Carlos Dunlap was quite essential to the Seahawks victory yesterday, or I should say on Sunday, because I've been frustrated with Carlos Dunlap because he has, by my count, three neutral zone infractions that were not even jumping. They were just actually lining up too close to the ball, which just seems very avoidable to me. And I think I was being fairly critical of Carlos Dunlap in our text chain, maybe during the game we were losing to the Washington football team or one of those games. But he was actually very instrumental on Sunday. He had the safety, which tied the game, and then he blocked the final pass on fourth down, ending the Niners final drive, which certainly looked for all the world like it was going to probably tie the game. I was terrified that they were going to actually go for two. I felt like it was a fait accompli they were going to score the touchdown and then go for two. I was already sort of emotionally preparing myself for a tough loss. Although I will say this, our friends who happen to be Minnesota Vikings fans, some of them come to mind, also suffered a pretty tough loss on Sunday. So there was a certain – I was almost – I was pre-commiserating. I was pre-miserating in my mind as San Francisco was driving. I was like, they're going to go down. They're going to score. They're going to get the two-point. And I'm just then, Stu and I and everyone else who are, you know, rooting for teams that are just somehow finding ways to lose, at least will share this pain. I was actually going there last night emotionally.

00:03:59 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 3:

Now, I mentioned to you before we started recording that I didn't, you know, I didn't study this game, Luke. This was a very casual watch for me. I got together with some friends at a bar, and we were watching it, and we were talking, and we were drinking, and we were eating. And so this was one of the like kind of least one of the games where I paid probably the least attention, which doesn't really help our cause here.

00:04:21 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 2:

I know I paid the most attention. Good.

00:04:23 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 3:

But I did want to I have one thing that I really wanted to ask you about. And it happens kind of you kind of set me up. So if we can start with the end of the game, if you don't mind. The one thing that I felt very passionate about that I was yelling about was you were just mentioning that last drive, of course, by San Francisco before they got the ball in their gall darn hands. The Seahawks were in the red zone. It was fourth down and I don't know how much, but a few yards and they were up. The Seahawks were up by seven points. To me, that was an obvious situation.

00:05:00 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 2:

where you take the three points so that you can get up by two full scores. All you have to do is have your defense keep the other team from scoring twice in four minutes, and I thought that our defense was totally ready to do that. Seahawks went for it, got the first down, but still messed up in the red zone, gave up the ball, so we never got any points at all. Now suddenly there are four minutes left. San Francisco has the ball and marches down the field, and that's why I thought it was a fait accompli. I don't think I said that right, but forgive me. I thought that was a terrible decision that worked out in our favor.

00:05:35 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 1:

Well, it was a terrible decision that worked out in our favor and then did not work out in our favor. It worked out in our favor that we converted the fourth down. We did do that. And when we did that, then it was like, well, now the game's over. We can run the clock down. We can score. We can kick a field goal. We, you know, when we converted the fourth, it seemed like there was, barring some just, you know, super bowl-esque collapse which interesting enough was basically what we did yeah there was just no way that at that point we could lose the game and then gerald everett gerald ever did committed his third turnover of the game his second i don't i wouldn't call this a touchdown because he was going to get stopped at the two but he blew a touchdown a wide open touchdown that he not only failed to catch but then somehow converted in a sort of reverse alchemy where you touch something golden and turn it into a duty he somehow you know created a interception in the end so anyway

00:06:29 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 2:

point is my point is when you were watching them they decide to go for it on fourth down when they could have pretty easily with a chip shot gone up by 10 points with four minutes and change on the clock were you as angry as i was were you saying go for the three or were you saying i'm glad you're being aggressive here get that get that first down and then get it into the end zone i was weirdly

00:06:50 - 00:08:08 | Speaker 1:

okay with the play to go for the first down even though I I think looking back on it it was totally the wrong call in the moment I was like well we're three and eight what do we have to lose salt the game away right now uh you know avoid some weirdness where they score a touchdown and an onside kicker who knows I just felt like we've had so we had so few examples of the Seahawks imposing their will on teams the fact that we could go yeah it's fourth and one so what and then we got it and it was just a traditional handoff there was no trickeration we just said we'll push you back and we'll let i think it was travis homer i think so get travis homer hero game bt dubs that's right i do have more questions for you go but at the time i felt okay about it but then of course with the gerald everett turnover then i started thinking wait why did we not just kick a field pete carroll the the coach who consistently uh sort of is afraid of going for it on fourth when we're on say the 36 he now goes for it here when he could like you said kick a field goal and put the game effectively out of reach it was a very weird call and it was only after gerald everett did what he did that i realized what a bad call it was so yeah i you were realizing something in the moment that i think i wasn't realizing because i was just kind

00:08:08 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 2:

of feeling I guess enthusiastic now do you speaking of Homer let's whip back to the beginning of the game um and talk about this I may be wrong we were just getting to the bar and settling in for the Seahawks first drive but I believe it was the first Seahawks drive where it looked like it was going to be another classic 2021 classic Seattle Seahawks three and out right but then instead of just punting on fourth they actually did a fake punt and got the ball into Homer's hands and he didn't just get the first down what he run for 80 70 73 yards or something to get a touchdown astounding we could talk about that but also something has been scratching or itching my brain so much the first time we ever saw homer touch a football wasn't it something similar to that don't we know him his first play as a seahawk was like i think like a fake punt that he ended up maybe not returning for a touchdown but getting massive yardage on and everybody was like hello welcome to seattle that rings a bit of a bell i think i got one too byob brought my own

00:09:15 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

bell baby there's two b's the second one's silent um i i think that could have happened i mean because part of what you do the way that that play worked was it was a direct snap to travis homer i loved nick bellore who's a kind of special teams player tight end had a really good game yesterday he also was lined up incorrectly on the onside kick against the washington football team that nullified the rare the rarest of rare onside kicks that work so he had a big mistake a couple weeks ago but he played really well um yes or on sunday he he said somebody asked him how did you feel when you knew that that they were calling the the fake punt and he said absolutely terrified like he's in the lineup he's like absolutely which i was really fascinated because i

00:10:00 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 2:

I was I was actually listening to that part of the game on the radio because I wasn't home yet. And when I heard it, I couldn't quite visualize what had actually happened. But when I went back and watched it, I was really impressed at how nonchalant Travis Homer looked, because the deal is a play like that. You have and this is why I think you might be right. You line somebody like Travis Homer up as a blocker and they do that 100 times so that the one time you get a look from the defense that you like. it's not weird that Travis Homer is back there. You know what I mean? Like if it's normally just some big, you know, I don't know, some big galoot that you wouldn't trust to run the ball, then if you put a Travis Homer in, the defense knows something's up. So that's the kind of thing where it's very conceivable that Travis Homer has done something like this before because of that exact thing where you've got him back there near the ball but usually not taking the snap so that one time you do it. And boy, did it work. Now this is where sports betting is both a blessing and a curse. I was ecstatic that play happened I was also a little bit sad that it wasn't a touchdown to Penny Hart Because yesterday Penny Hart scoring the first touchdown of the game Would pay on a $5 bet $1,000 Does that mean it's unlikely? Yes it does And as I said to our text group I'm very very sad I didn't win my Penny Hart bet But I'm very very happy that it was because we scored a different touchdown That was amazing and good

00:11:27 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 1:

Now, I was that first touchdown of the game or first touchdown by the Seahawks of the game?

00:11:32 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 2:

You mean the bet or the bet is the first touchdown scored by either team has to be a specific player. And the more I got it with Patrick Mahomes rushing a touchdown on the night game, which is great. Hundred dollars on five. We're, by the way, sponsored by win bets, win more bets with win bets. I started listening to that show, The Rumor, that our friend Sam Dingman does. Oh, yeah, it's really good. But it's sponsored by all these casinos. And I'm like, hey, how is no point not sponsored with the amount of sports gamble talk that I do now? Anyway, I was actually excited, not just because the Seahawks won, but excited to do the no point this week because. I feel like Russell Wilson's finger, you know, they said that injury that he had takes, I think they said, eight weeks, eight weeks to heal. He came back at four weeks. We're now at eight weeks and it's better.

00:12:23 - 00:12:24 | Speaker 1:

That's funny.

00:12:24 - 00:12:26 | Speaker 2:

It's basically now it's healed.

00:12:26 - 00:12:34 | Speaker 1:

He could have run the—I mean, that's funny how that times out. But, I mean, he actually—you could extend an injury like that by coming back too early, too. So I guess we're lucky that didn't happen.

00:12:34 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 2:

You're right. I mean, maybe if he comes back at week six, he's fine. What I know is he looked like Russell Wilson yesterday. He was on target. He was, you know, throwing long balls that were good. He was throwing short passes that worked. He was—he looked very much more like the Russell Wilson pre-injury. And I just think it's interesting that it's at exactly the eight-week mark from his injury, which they list as the time it takes your finger to be fully better.

00:12:59 - 00:13:47 | Speaker 1:

This is what I don't know about this game. Because, again, the kind of casual way that I watched it, I don't have a good grasp on it. Like, I remember, I think I wrote it down somewhere. I think there were one zillion turnovers. but I later on I think I told you this earlier later on I ran into a friend at the Eagles who has a great football mind and the first thing I said when I sat down was man finally that was like the best game of the season so far there's a best Seahawks game like I my takeaway from watching it and having a good time was that was a great game like the Seahawks looked good he said no that was a really ugly win and he really is he's smart about this shit and i was like uh was i was i miss i looked like that was a really good game but was i just drunk i guess

00:13:47 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 2:

is my question that was if you if gerald everett does not commit yeah two turnovers in the red zone we win that game by by you know 21 points it's a blowout like everett didn't have a good game that's for damn they need to cut him i'm sorry i know that they think he's a cog in the machine that is the seahawks and uh you know he's generally effective but like you just have to send the message that you can't do that i'm sorry it's like that was just that's that's unforgivable to me that's like a field goal kicker missing five kicks in a game you just got to go find somebody else yeah some throw more to uncle will disley sorry gerald everett you just can't do that three times in one game that to me is such a statistical anomaly and they weren't just i mean they were critical because first he had i mean he had the two turnovers in the red zone that should be 14 points then i believe the other fumble he had put uh the niners very close to scoring so this is like a possibly and they didn't score i don't remember what happened with that i think they did i thought they probably did i just mean i think this fumble was on our side of the 50 like i think his his fumble was these were just devastatingly critical errors but they're not from your quarterback, if Russell Wilson threw three interceptions,

00:15:00 - 00:15:34 | Speaker 1:

interceptions then i think it's an ugly win gerald everett fumbling and creating i mean that that interception was just totally bizarre he's wide open it hits him in the hands he drops it in his trying to juggle it he kicks it up in the air these are not things that are going to happen every week so if you if you take those as as you know events that are just totally out there and wild and will not be repeated this was a good game our defense actually played pretty well yeah As they have been lately. Which is something else. This is a reason why I think it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that the Seahawks may win out.

00:15:34 - 00:15:40 | Speaker 2:

I have all of my ridiculous optimism back. I'm with you on that.

00:15:40 - 00:16:04 | Speaker 1:

I do, too, just because Russell Wilson looks like Russell Wilson again, and the defense has found some weird sort of— I mean, if you go back and you look at the games that we have been playing of late, it's like they gave up 13 points to the Saints. They gave up seven points to Jacksonville. Jacksonville's not very good. They gave up 17 points to the Packers, but that's on the road.

00:16:05 - 00:16:16 | Speaker 2:

And some of that was garbage time, right? That 17 points does not reflect that game. They held Green Bay. I don't remember the box score, but it wasn't like nobody had a touchdown going into the half?

00:16:17 - 00:16:29 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was a very low-scoring game at the beginning, and they were doing a good job against Aaron Rodgers. The Cardinals game was pretty ugly that they let Case McCoy or Colt McKeanum or whoever it was.

00:16:30 - 00:16:33 | Speaker 2:

You know what you want to say. Hingle McCringleberry.

00:16:33 - 00:17:21 | Speaker 1:

Whoever it was, whichever person that was, they made the Arizona quarterback who was filling for Kyler Murray look pretty good. That wasn't the greatest game for us. They got 23 points. That was lousy. But still, you know, Washington football team, they only give up 17 points, and then the Niners, they hold them to 23. And, again, that's with a lot of help from Gerald Everett towards the Niners' cause. My point in all this is to say Russell Wilson looks like he could be Russell Wilson again. Our defense has found some strange ability to—I mean, the statistics are actually quite surprising from this team in terms of points allowed, points in the red zone. It always feels like the other team's offense is driving on us, and it always feels like the other team's offense is at some point having to kick a field goal, which is some metric of success. I mean, we're playing the Texans next.

00:17:22 - 00:17:23 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, just looking ahead.

00:17:23 - 00:18:12 | Speaker 1:

Rams, no fun. That's a tough, tough game, particularly as they bring everyone online, i.e., you know, the—oh, what's—I want to say Vern Troyer, but that's mini-me from Austin Powers. Yeah, that's right. Vaughn Miller. Okay, yeah. Vaughn Miller is really the Vern Troyer of fearsome defensive linemen. No, Vaughn Miller, you know, is going to be really tough. They've got OBJ. I mean, like, the Rams were stacked, and they're now more stacked. So that's going to be a tough game. If we won that, that'd be a minor miracle. It's also at Los Angeles. Bears, we could win that game. Lions, we could win that game. Cardinals, end of the season, maybe we get lucky and the Cardinals aren't playing for anything and they're resting Kyler Murray. Do the Seahawks at 9-8 make the playoffs? Probably not. But gosh, wouldn't it be fun? But they make the playoffs of our hearts in that thing.

00:18:12 - 00:18:28 | Speaker 2:

They really do. If they could come out of this season with a positive record, that would be astounding. It would really be something. Now that we break down the schedule when we're looking at that Rams and that Cardinals, I guess my optimism just did dampen a little bit, but it's been a weird season.

00:18:28 - 00:19:09 | Speaker 1:

The Rams game, that would be the miracle. Again, my guess is that Arizona won't be playing their starters by Week 18. They have the best record in the NFC and maybe the NFL. I mean, and they just got Kyler Murray back. So we might win a game that the Cardinals aren't trying on. But the Rams, that would be really challenging. That being said, I just – it was so nice yesterday to – I disagree with your learned friend at the Eagles that yesterday was – I mean, it was ugly because of Gerald Everett's unfortunate gaffes. But overall, you had Russell Wilson deal in. You had the defense playing pretty okay. It felt very encouraging to me as a game.

00:19:10 - 00:19:20 | Speaker 2:

It wasn't – I mean – That's how it felt to me, and it felt fun to me. Yeah. How many turnovers were – so the Seahawks were all three on Everett? I may be forgetting. I don't think Russell threw a pick.

00:19:21 - 00:19:35 | Speaker 1:

Well, he threw a pick that Gerald Everett created. Oh, right. So that's technically an interception to Russell, but it's not his fault. And I think that was the only interception. Okay. Was when he hits a wide-open Gerald Everett running into the end zone, and Gerald Everett does the worst conceivable thing with it.

00:19:35 - 00:19:40 | Speaker 2:

But then how many – I mean, off the top of your head, about like 49ers turned it over like constantly, did they not?

00:19:40 - 00:20:03 | Speaker 1:

They did, and we benefited from that. You know, Garoppolo threw, I think, two picks. They had a fumble on a on a kick return. They also I mean, they gave up that safety. Yeah, the Niners played the Niners played badly. And the Seahawks, of course, weren't perfect. But I just don't think it's fair to say it was just like both. teams were trying to lose it like i think the seahawks were seen too many ugly yeah we've seen

00:20:03 - 00:20:35 | Speaker 2:

what that looks like and that wasn't what happened yesterday and it wasn't i mean i i think what my buddy was saying was that he wanted he he wants to see a game in hand earlier but i was like yeah but we led the whole time this time yeah we led the whole time you know it wasn't like like you said the game wasn't salted away early on or really ever but um it really really down to the last 15 seconds but we won and we never we never um were trailing and it just it didn't seem like the kind of nail biter just it just felt good it just seemed like i had a sense like i was really

00:20:35 - 00:22:50 | Speaker 1:

mad about the final turnover by everett but i still had a sense that the niners i know i started by saying i expected the niners to score and then get the two point i kind of did like half of my heart the more you know anxious part of me was sort of preparing for that but i also had this other sort of sense of like i just don't think they're gonna go 98 yards on us and i just i they came close they came very close i i guess i just mean to what you were saying which is i had a general feeling of positivity about this like there we've now gotten to this mode where there are games where i'm kind of thinking god how are we going to lose this i didn't have that feeling like emotionally even though i know i also said i'm speaking with forked tongue here but that's what it is to be a sports fan you have a lot of competing thoughts yeah well you're sorting out your feelings and that's fine i sure am and the listeners are paying for it um so again i still feel like they probably need to get rid of pete carroll yeah i mean god love him we won this game because russell wilson passed the ball better shane waldron i guess did you see that double pass play that was oh yeah what was i called it a flea flicker but that's not a flea flicker really No, it was a it was a triple pass. Yeah, I've never I don't think I've ever at the NFL level seen a triple pass. I completely forgot about that. So I believe if I remember right, it was it was like Russell throwing a lateral, but, you know, overhand. So a pass to like. Is it DK? And then I don't remember. Maybe it was Freddie Swain was Russell passing to a receiver, but doing it laterally. So it was not a forward pass. And then that player passing it back to Russell, who then threw it to a double cover Tyler Lockett at the end zone, which he almost got. He hit Lockett on the hands. But it was like the defense was clearly not fooled by this play. Those two people back it. I mean, you throw two passes behind the line of scrimmage. You expect that the safeties are going to draw up on it. The safeties knew exactly what they were doing. They were still in coverage on that. But I mean, they were really there's something that's a little bit liberating about knowing that you're probably not going to go to the playoffs. I mean, that's I don't know if Pete Carroll calls that fake punt if the Seahawks are six and five.

00:22:50 - 00:22:56 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's interesting. I mean, that was I mean, that was so uncharacteristic of what he's been doing.

00:22:56 - 00:23:03 | Speaker 1:

We are averaging 64 yards on fourth down now. Just based on the that. I don't know that really. I'm joking.

00:23:03 - 00:23:05 | Speaker 2:

I see what you're saying. But yeah, but that you're right. That does.

00:23:05 - 00:23:12 | Speaker 1:

We've gone three times and one of the times it was 73. Yeah. It's our most effective play. If you look at it based on yards per attempt.

00:23:12 - 00:23:24 | Speaker 2:

It's so weird that he decided to do that in that position because it wasn't even a close fourth down. It was four and six, if I'm remembering correctly. And it's just like, where did that come from? I wonder if Shane told— I think it was a look. Oh, it was a look, you think.

00:23:24 - 00:23:35 | Speaker 1:

My guess, and I don't know this for a fact, my guess is that they saw a look in how the Niners were lined up, and they liked that look.

00:23:36 - 00:23:41 | Speaker 2:

And they could radio in. I actually said Shane. Sorry, I'd like to retract that. Of course, he's not the special teams coach.

00:23:41 - 00:23:45 | Speaker 1:

Right. I don't know the name of the special teams coach, so let's just go with Shane. They could both be named Shane.

00:23:46 - 00:23:46 | Speaker 2:

Everybody's named Shane.

00:23:47 - 00:24:18 | Speaker 1:

But I don't – yeah, I don't know. I definitely don't think he calls that if we have a better record, even if he gets the look he wants or the special teams person. But I also – I don't know exactly what the series of events is. If it's – I can't imagine you call it from the – maybe you call it from the sideline and then if you get in – because you've been studying how do the Niners line up. You call it from the sideline with the chance of calling it off if you don't get the alignment that you're looking for. Maybe, I mean, I'm totally guessing at that.

00:24:18 - 00:24:21 | Speaker 2:

Maybe you have a coach up in the bird box or whatever they call that thing looking down. Yeah.

00:24:22 - 00:24:27 | Speaker 1:

Well, no, that coach is not allowed to look at the field or they get possessed. That's the plot of bird box.

00:24:27 - 00:24:29 | Speaker 2:

Oh, bird box. That would be great.

00:24:29 - 00:24:59 | Speaker 1:

You just have a Sandy B up there with something tied around her eyes like, what are they in? Are they in cover zero? Why did we go with Sandy B from Bird Box as our coordinator? So I am feeling it took me exactly one game to go from just complete abject sadness to we're winning out. But, you know, that's that's how I roll. Let's talk Browns real quick. I know they didn't play this week. What are you hearing, though, on the wind as far as Baker and the shoulder?

00:25:00 - 00:25:07 | Speaker 2:

and the injuries and the whole thing. I guess my question is, how are you feeling as they enter their last however many games it is?

00:25:07 - 00:26:15 | Speaker 1:

You know, I hate to say this, but I have not, you know, since the last game, which was the loss to Baltimore, which was a pretty demoralizing feeling, I have not really been following the kind of, you know, off-the-field conversations. I listened to, you know, some analysis of that game. It was obviously pretty depressing. But honestly, Luke, my apologies for not being more prepared, But I'm kind of blind on this one. All I have is like my general gut feeling of I hated this. I hated this part of the schedule where it was going to be right by Ravens. Yeah. Ravens did lose yesterday. It was a very weird feeling to be rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yeah. But I was very happy to see that they lost. And like, I mean, if we could, I guess this isn't really answering your question, but the stall here for a second or maybe it's home at least it's in Cleveland. It's Cleveland, and things are still pretty bunched up, especially with that Ravens loss to the Steelers yesterday. Right now, the Ravens are 8-4. It's so weird. The Browns are 6-6. That's not a great record, but I'm not used to seeing the Browns at 6-6 and the last in the division. It seems like they should be at least third.

00:26:16 - 00:26:17 | Speaker 2:

Well, everyone's really bunched together, though.

00:26:17 - 00:26:52 | Speaker 1:

Everybody's bunched together, which is good because if the Ravens can come to Cleveland next weekend And the Browns can beat them and go up to 7-6 and make them 8-5. Like, man, that's a game changer. So that doesn't answer your question about how I'm feeling. Generally speaking, I am incredibly pessimistic about any time the Browns face the Ravens. They've won the last three from us now. We had one real good, I'm going to say it, ass beating the season before where we really beat up on the Ravens. That was pretty sweet. But if you look at the record.

00:26:52 - 00:26:57 | Speaker 2:

Was that the game where – was that the game that got Miles Garrett suspended or was that a different game?

00:26:57 - 00:27:02 | Speaker 1:

That was Pittsburgh. That was a Pittsburgh game. Oh, right. Mason Rudolph. Maga Rudolph, exactly.

00:27:02 - 00:27:03 | Speaker 2:

Maga Rudolph swung first.

00:27:04 - 00:27:45 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, he certainly did. So anyway, let's just say I'm not – I wouldn't ever describe myself as optimistic. I'm not. I really have no idea what's happened with these two weeks off. The Browns needed a bye week like nobody's ever needed a bye week before. So I'll go in a little bit more optimistic than I went into the last game, which was, you know, in Baltimore because you have to. But I don't know. The Ravens lost. They might be coming in to prove something again. And it's going to be it's going to be tough. If I had to bet, let's say that you were forcing me to put down a significant amount of money on this, like I based on our sponsorship by the wind casino. Why can't we get some of that DraftKings money that Levitard has that we turned down?

00:27:45 - 00:27:55 | Speaker 2:

Remember, we actually actively turned down. I love that I'm over here being like, why don't we have a gambling sponsor? And it's like, well, because we asked our boss, Steve Nelson, if we could please not do DraftKings.

00:27:55 - 00:28:22 | Speaker 1:

That was a long time ago when DraftKings actually got super shady. They got into some stuff. Yeah. But now with legal with gambling becoming more and more legalized in more states and becoming mainstream, I think I have a slightly different attitude towards that stuff. But anyway, all of that is to say that I wouldn't bet on the Browns this week, but I would certainly say that I'm more optimistic than I was last week. And next week's kind of for all the marbles. You know, if the Browns don't do anything, if the Browns lose next week, the season's basically over for them.

00:28:22 - 00:28:26 | Speaker 2:

Well, I could see the defense rallying.

00:28:26 - 00:28:28 | Speaker 1:

Defense was so good last week.

00:28:28 - 00:29:08 | Speaker 2:

And again, Lamar Jackson is a fascinating player to me because he is superhuman in a lot of ways, and he's also very human. And he will have these games where he, you know, throws for 500 yards, but he throws the most inopportune pick that you possibly can because he takes a lot of chances in both some of the runs that he does and some of the throws he makes, and he's successful a lot of the time. But I could see a world in which the Browns' defense just has it dialed in. They've had a little bit of time to rest up. Everybody's kind of feeling a little fresher, a little more pep in their step. You know, Baker's injuries, obviously the shoulder is what it is. That's not a two-week – that's not going to heal in two weeks, but maybe some of the other nagging things.

00:29:08 - 00:29:11 | Speaker 1:

Maybe he'll be able to walk. Maybe his feet won't be broken. His knees won't be broken.

00:29:11 - 00:29:12 | Speaker 2:

You know, those things.

00:29:12 - 00:29:18 | Speaker 1:

He's like the anti-Dan Campbell. Our knees are broken. We're going to go down. We're going to break another knee. He'll clump dog it.

00:29:19 - 00:29:25 | Speaker 2:

He may. I mean, I could see a world in which the Browns win. I don't think it's inconceivable.

00:29:25 - 00:30:29 | Speaker 1:

Can I say one more thing about the Ravens, too? And this is the infuriating thing about them. Because Lamar Jackson, as much as I hate the Ravens, I obviously do have a lot of respect for him. You'd have to be off your rocker to not. But when you look, I mean, this is the thing that is just so infuriating, for lack of a better word, about the Ravens this season is like they are within like just one bounce away from losing so many of these games that they end up pulling out and winning. And I mean, the Ravens looked, I mean, Lamar Jackson especially looked so bad last week against the Browns. But the Browns just had no offense. I mean, the Browns defense just destroyed them last week. Did he throw three picks? My brain is mush. I can't remember. But, I mean, like, the Browns defense destroyed the Ravens last week. But the Browns offense did not exist last week. And so you can't win like that. So it's just kind of a bummer that as an anti-Ravens enthusiast, it's just like so many of these games could have gone the other way. But not only do you have a good quarterback, a clutch quarterback, but you also had a lot of luck this year, man.

00:30:29 - 00:32:00 | Speaker 2:

Right. Well, just to, if we can bring it back to the Seahawks as we wrap this up, it's kind of, it's kind of, it's, I, and just in looking, I've obviously become so pessimistic at times during this season, which I usually don't do, but it's just, it's gotten to me how, how bad some of these games were. But then I'm going, I'm scrolling back through the season. It's like, we lost two games in overtime. You know, if we even just win one of those, things are different. We've lost so many games by a very small, you know, score. I forget what the stat was But it was like we had lost three games by a combined 11 points or something they were saying last night Football is a weird game for how As terribly as the Seahawks have played at times And as absolutely futile as Russell Wilson Has looked and at times Gino Smith It's like a couple of things The ball bounces differently a few times And the Seahawks could be You know 6-6 Right now or 7-4 Or whatever does that work out No 8-4 maybe who knows Football is such a weird game NFL football is such a weird game Because the difference between the teams There are some teams that are just obviously superior Arizona appears to be obviously superior You know Tampa Bay, Tampa appears to be A superior team, there are teams that are really Just good, but there are so many other teams That are just in the middle somewhere, and it does come down to Like The Seahawks have had previous seasons where the ball Bounced their way a few times And then they just look like An elite team And then we have seasons like this where the ball has not bounced our way and we just look like dog poop.

00:32:00 - 00:32:25 | Speaker 1:

It's very rare that we have these seasons, just as a reminder of that. And also, I want to say, and, you know, I guess I can't prove this and maybe it's recency bias, but this just seems like an incredibly bizarre year across the NFL. Like, well, yeah, the Chiefs going on some huge losing jag in the first half of the season when we know that they are an elite team or I believe them to be. And now I don't know what they did. Oh, they won. You bet on them yesterday. So they well, like they've won.

00:32:25 - 00:33:00 | Speaker 2:

they're on a streak i actually bet on denver uh to win because i do this thing that when every single person on the national broadcast is picking one team i bet against them which has never worked but i tried anyway so i bet that the denver was going to cover which they didn't which means i bet that they were only going to lose by a small amount uh which didn't happen they got blown out um because god teddy bridgewater looked real real bad but what i won was that bet of who's going to score the first touchdown and i had um mahomes and that doesn't mean mahomes throwing the first touchdown because there's a high problem it means mahomes scrambling for the first touchdown of the

00:33:00 - 00:33:05 | Speaker 1:

game which he did wow and then he doesn't do that often i assume i don't think very typically it was

00:33:05 - 00:33:57 | Speaker 2:

and it was like a 25 yard scramble it was a weird broken play and as he was getting closer to the pylon i was like please oh my god and he crossed it and i was like woohoo so nice um uh so i yeah I don't, I guess, have a whole lot else to add other than it's nice to, at least as a Seahawks fan, feel reengaged in the process a little bit. And now my new goal is, yeah, if we can finish the season over 500, that'll feel like it's giving us some kind of momentum going into the offseason. I still think they probably need to fire Pete Carroll. Sorry. Keep Russell Wilson. Fire Pete Carroll. Cut the baby in half. And as Tracy Morgan says, I'll take the top half because that's where the face is. I consider Russell Wilson the top half of this baby That we need to cut in half Because that's where the face is Alright thanks for listening everyone We're going to have another one of these next week I think actually next week

00:33:57 - 00:34:37 | Speaker 1:

Yeah you know the schedules I mean if we can talk about my personal life here for a second This is a real bummer Almost this no in this entire season I have my little side by side schedule here You can see it's highlighted in yellow In the one places where there is a There's a conflict between The Browns and the Seahawks playing at the same time This has been the best season as far as me Watching football because there are no conflicts Until next week begins Both games are Playing at the same time and then they just Scheduled the Browns game for week 15 And that's also going to be a Conflict for me so I got to go into that hole I haven't done this all season where I have to like Turn off social media They call it a B-hole

00:34:37 - 00:34:43 | Speaker 2:

A Browns hole where you have to completely Disconnect from all of our Media so you can watch the Browns but not know

00:34:43 - 00:34:56 | Speaker 1:

what happened with the seahawks so i have to like bury my my phone under a bunch of rice i don't know why rice so that i can't see the text messages or file and i love following the games on twitter and talking with you guys on text messages but i don't want to be spoiled for

00:34:56 - 00:35:00 | Speaker 2:

the seahawks game and also it's not the kind of thing where you could watch both games

00:35:00 - 00:35:01 | Speaker 3:

At once that's too brain scrambling

00:35:01 - 00:35:23 | Speaker 2:

I don't think so I mean here let me ask You this you know next week I can just get your Opinion on this and I don't know if you're going to be around for This at all but like I have really Enjoyed this season actually going And meeting up with a bunch of friends and watching These Seahawks games in a bar and I Wonder if part of it has been Because the season maybe was starting To droop a little bit maybe I didn't feel like I had To be at home watching intensely and every

00:35:23 - 00:35:27 | Speaker 3:

Single play holding your lucky yeah You know whatever actually I do

00:35:27 - 00:36:03 | Speaker 2:

Have a lucky Browns ball that I squeeze it's a stress ball um and uh and so i've really been enjoying the socializing aspect of it but this next weekend is the first conflict like i was saying and so i'm and it's to go back in your b-hole it's also my buddy kevin it's our buddy kevin's birthday uh and so this is so we're like oh hey birthday football next weekend but i'm like the browns are playing at the same time should i take my smallest computer or tablet and try to watch the browns and the seahawks at the same time in the bar with my group of friends that's just gonna be that might honestly that

00:36:03 - 00:37:02 | Speaker 3:

might not be a terrible idea and the reason is because if the Browns are winning it'll be fun yeah and if they're losing it might help you have a little bit of emotional distance that's true I was watching the game that the Seahawks lost to the Washington football team if I'm remembering the weeks right i was at a portland timbers soccer match yeah and i was watching it on my phone because i'd already kind of given up a little bit you know i was like whatever and so that was a pretty crushing loss 17 15 it didn't hurt me as bad because i had other stuff going on now had they won i would have been stoked and maybe i would have come home and re-watched it or something but there's a certain you know what i mean like it almost i don't know how you'll process a brown's loss it might be so sour for you that you don't want to be around anyone but it helps me sometimes if I care too much about a game to have something else going on so I cannot fully because if I'm at my house watching the Seahawks by myself yeah that's hyper engagement for me are you standing

00:37:02 - 00:37:06 | Speaker 2:

in these situations I'm usually standing if Genevieve's not around I am pacing I'm squeezing

00:37:06 - 00:37:33 | Speaker 3:

my football it depends on the it depends on the where we're at in the game you know so uh sometimes Definitely towards it. Well, in the Seahawks game on Sunday, when the Niners were driving, I was up and walking around behind my couch. I also had a flight in like an hour to fly to Seattle. So I was like, let's cannot go to overtime because I need to see the end of this. So, yeah. So I don't know. Well, you know what? Update us next week. Yeah.

00:37:33 - 00:37:37 | Speaker 2:

You know, I'm leaning towards doing it. Let's put friendship before football. What do you think?

00:37:37 - 00:37:56 | Speaker 3:

Let's do it. All right. Thanks for listening, everyone. We'll see you here next week for this same thing. Once again. Thanks for listening. And, of course, you know this as a no-point fan. You would have to be still listening 39 minutes into this that when we're talking about the no-point conversion, there's just absolutely no tangent too long.

00:37:56 - 00:37:58 | Speaker 2:

Or detail too wrong.

00:38:04 - 00:38:27 | Speaker 1:

No matter what you are I will always be with you It doesn't matter what you do, girl I'll go with you No matter what you do I will always be around
