You know you rock when you roll with the Seahawks Marshawn Lynch, Beast Moe with his dreadlocks Rolls and passes the ball to the endzone touchdown you know we're gonna get the crown in super bowl 24 team we get the ring the bling listen to the crowd sing seahawks seahawks seahawks we block that offense to say we'll lose to such an offense and nonsense we got the best defense being the other quarterback comes with the expense of the act of being sacked to hope the broncos have enough time to react to the level of game the hawks are bringing that evening a super bowl sunny because they're gonna go all the way for the win starting when the game begins all the way to the end of the game And to go down in fame as the Super Bowl champions of this year, this team should be feared. You better saddle up when you roll with Seattle. All right, it's TB chill, no point.

00:01:11 - 00:01:28 | Speaker 1:

Conversion time. I'm Luke Burbank right there. My friend Andrew Walsh. How are you doing on this Monday, my friend? I did not watch the Browns game, but I saw the final score and I saw some chatter on our text chain. Sounds like it was a frustrating one.

00:01:28 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 2:

It was a bloodbath. I am so sick of the Watt brothers. TJ, JJ, I want nothing to do with the Watts going forward after those two matchups yesterday with the Seahawks and the Browns, each going up against a Watt brother. It was, I mean, I don't, do you really want to start with the Browns? Yeah, let's do it. Okay, it was a disaster, Luke. It's a goddamn disaster. This is why we have the explicit rating, because sometimes you've got to stop mincing words. We went into that game against the Cardinals, who are, I guess, the best, you know, arguably the best team in football right now, has the best record, certainly. Is there any other team that's undefeated, do we know? I don't think so. I don't think so either. And I knew that this was going to be a tough one. I predicted a loss. I had been actually kind of predicting a loss all week. I didn't know it was going to be so ugly, and we went in a very banged-up team. We didn't have either of our starting tackles. In fact, I think our third string tackle was starting. We didn't have Chubb. Chubb was out, our one-two punch of our running backs, Chubb and Hunt. So we only had Hunt until Hunt got injured in the fourth quarter. And now both of our running backs have calf issues, which it turns out, I guess, they say that if you can't put weight on your leg, that's tough. That's a tough position to put a running back in. We didn't have Jarvis Landry. um Odell Beckham Jr. you know he's coming off of an injury and kind of re-injured himself again yesterday but mostly stayed in the game Baker Mayfield looked like garbage probably partially because we're out of tackles like that's a problem um but he also turned it over three times and again part of that is him scrambling around and trying to do too much and put the team on his back I think I'm being a little bit more forgiving of him than probably I should be everybody else is like baker ain't it um but uh it is it is it was rough man and and we're really banged up right now and i feel like this kind of i mean not to be all derzy about this but you know it feels like the end of like the hopeful season now i mean obviously we're still pretty early in the season we're not even to the halfway mark quite yet but like we still have to face the ravens twice you know and we now have a three and three record and all of our three losses are two really good teams that's the only thing that is sort of keeping me keeping me afloat here a little bit um we lost to the chiefs we lost to the chargers and now we've lost to the cardinals and the next five uh the next five game stretch is our schedule eases up a little bit but we're so banged up we're so banged up and um and baker who is kind of still nursing a a shoulder and injured it again yesterday that was another injury he went into the blue tent a couple of times oh that came out like no it's just like it the wheels i was just who was i talking to yesterday i said just like picture you know a

00:04:25 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 2:

browns bus and the wheels are flying off and you're like how were there so many wheels to begin with that can fly off this quickly and violently it is depressing and meanwhile you have the ravens just still just like killing it and we'll never catch up to them and we have to face them two more times or two times it's just uh i'm feeling very um pessimistic about the future of my of my brownies for this season it's it's a tough one how many wild card spots are there you think i would know this i don't know off the top of my head it always gets confusing i always relearn it during wild card season i mean it may be one of those things where the brown

00:05:00 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 1:

are playing for a wild card spot as the Seahawks were maybe are who knows but I mean like there's no way the Seahawks are catching the Cardinals um unless something you know unless Kyler Murray goes out for the season or something you know knock wood I don't want that to happen to the guy but I mean it could it be a thing where the Browns just they they kind of get their shit together they heal up a little bit and they just make the wild card yeah I actually I don't know

00:05:23 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 2:

what the math on that looks like right now but I mean that is that is our only path certainly um And it really depends. I mean, again, there still is a lot of season to play here. We will see. But, like, and again, the schedule eases up for a good chunk here, which is good. We faced a lot of really tough teams early on. But, like, we're just so banged up, Luke. And I don't know the status of any of these injuries right now. But, like, Chubb and Hunt are both out. Like, it's just, like, that's our game. Landry. Did I mention Landry? Landry didn't play. Yeah. And, like, I don't know when he's coming back. And I don't know what the status of OBJ is. He was apparently screaming in pain and frustration after re-injuring yesterday. He's always he's always doing something on the sidelines except for chilling. But anyway, it's just it's just I don't know. It's really it's really rough. They could come they could come out. You know, they're facing the Broncos. I don't know what the Broncos record is, but I know that they're not they're not elite this year. So maybe we can use that as a way to kind of gather ourselves next week. And it's a Thursday night game, by the way, so it's a short week. We are coming in, like, so bruised and broken on a short week. So anyway, I'm a little concerned.

00:06:39 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 1:

Well, I mean, listen, Arizona is obviously Kyler Murray is a very dynamic player, and they put up some points. But my question is, is the defense relatively healthy? I mean, is Miles Garrett okay? Garrett's okay.

00:06:53 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 2:

So the rush, and we still have Clowney, and we have another rusher. I'm blanking on his name. He's young, and he has a hyphenated name, but he's shown to be a four. So we have a good rush, but we do not have a good secondary at all. I mean, they're still blowing routes. Who's there? I'm sorry. Who is the Cardinals? Dion. Oh, Dion Hopkins? Yeah. D'Andre? Dion? What's his name? Geez, Louise. Anyway, Hopkins. He's just like standing in the end zone Like just a blown cover It was like one of those things where it's kind of like The receiver is so wide open That he almost has to make a joke of it As he catches the ball Like look around Like where is everybody Like the secondary is problematic

00:07:35 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 1:

Because I was going to say If your defense is DeAndre Hopkins by the way DeAndre If your defense is still intact I mean that's a pretty good defense And you know you can win games like with a good defense or you can lose games if your defense is bad see seattle seahawks so i guess my thought is you may have a glimmer of hope if your defense if they can figure some stuff out in the secondary they can scheme better and you've got miles garrett putting pressure on the quarterback and you're going into some easy games you guys i mean you could rack up three wins in a row and

00:08:09 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 2:

things could feel really different in a few weeks if we can put a lot of pressure on quarterbacks and force turnovers that would be good and also i don't know like we have good personnel it's not like last year when we had andrew what's his face um who was like playing every play and he was just terrible as a cornerback like um sandejo no i can't remember his name anyway um uh yeah sandejo that was him yeah anyway um like if we can because it seems like there's community and theo's all angry about this now oh he's a sandejo head yes he well don't forget as i mentioned in tbtl today i think he might be on the side of the refs who also like and i know it's not a good look i know it's not a good look I don't even want to talk about it but like there was and listen I don't think the Browns win this game without these atrocious calls but it started to feel like I started to believe in conspiracy theories Luke like it just I didn't understand on this one drive how they could call two non-PIs wait no what did they do they called two very negligible PIs against our defenders and in between those two negligible PIs there was a blatant offensive PI against us I mean the the the receiver the intended receiver two hands pushes our defender who I want to say is Ward I'm not sure out of the way and out of bounds and there's no flag it was it was astounding Luke and a lot of the I mean there was also a face mask in that drive which was undeniable like the browns were not playing disciplined football but also they were getting called these like tiny ticky tacky things where you had um i'm trying to remember the quarterback the former quarterback who was um calling the game uh former jet uh very oh mark sanchez sanchez is calling the game he's a quarterback and he's like i don't get this he's like i'm for

00:10:00 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 1:

protecting the quarterback but there was like a there was a roughing the passer that just did not happen it just did not happen I mean and I gotta say I don't want to be that guy who's always blaming the refs but when the announcers and when one of them is you know a former offensive player a former quarterback is saying like this is wrong they brought on um who's the this guy usually annoys me except even he came on he's like the Browns are getting just the wrong end of a lot of calls you know the former official that they'll bring on um and get his take on things Mike Pereira yeah it might have been prayer it might have been the other guy but anyway like it was like it is worth mentioning I think it's not a good look for me as a Browns fan to just come in here two weeks in a row and say this officiating is terrible but like it was mind-bogglingly bad

00:10:43 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 2:

and the TV you know the network knew it I don't understand why PI is not reviewable anymore it seems I know it got super complicated and and it was so weird because it seems like pass interference is the exact thing you should be able to review and challenge because slowing it down and seeing what really happened is a way to find out what happened. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know how they got it so screwed up that they had one year where it was reviewable and it got so much more complicated that they just said, we can't review it. I mean, I guess that the reason they decided to review was because of that Saints game where there was like a brutal PI that didn't get called and basically changed who was going to go to the Super Bowl. And then they tried to fix it for a year, but then they screwed it up so mightily that then they took it away. But it just seems to me like it should be reviewable.

00:11:31 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean, there was a lot of complaints about it at the time, and I think it was just the general slowing down of the game. And often, weren't the stats on the overturned calls just very, very low? In other words, if you challenged that, the chances of you actually overturning it was statistically incredibly low. They just weren't successful challenges. Maybe that was part of it.

00:11:53 - 00:12:24 | Speaker 2:

i also think even with the replay they got a lot of it wrong which is like nuts to think about you know because again if you're just looking at it in super mo you'd think you would get the right call every time but somehow because of the weirdness of the rules um around it it just it's for whatever reason it didn't seem to work out but it's quite maddening when pi calls go against you because as i say about holding calls you can kind of throw a pi flag on almost every play at some point, or you can choose to not throw it. And so that's why it feels so capricious.

00:12:24 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. And it's kind of like the strike zone too, right? Well, fine. If you're going to have a wide strike zone, just be consistent with it. And the way, I mean, and again, I know that there's no actual conspiracy. I don't think that the refs are like, we need to keep the chiefs to be, or I'm sorry, the Cardinals to be undefeated. Like, I don't think it's actually a conspiracy, but like, you can't be so inconsistent with these calls. You can't like call two non-PIs on the Browns and then a devastating just miss a devastating PI like that that could have been a pick like anyway I didn't want to spend this much time with the officiating but it definitely was one of the problems with yesterday's game but the Browns were also a problem with yesterday's game and injuries are a huge problem yeah I I mean I I'm sorry that you're I'm sorry that

00:13:10 - 00:14:25 | Speaker 2:

you're bummed on this Monday but uh I do think your defense I think your defense I mean I think your defense is a reason to be hopeful and also i think baker mayfield uh is is uh still a pretty talented qb so my guess is we're going to be back here in three weeks the browns will have won some games and you'll be feeling a lot better i wish i could say the same for the seahawks i don't know if that's necessarily true um but that being said i have to say last night's game which went into overtime against pittsburgh steelers um i have to say that i felt oddly okay when it was all over believe it or not um i felt like they could have just after going down 14 nothing at half and just showing absolutely zero zero efficacy on offense and the defense looking pretty porous they could have just rolled over and die and they didn't and they put together a quite thrilling second half and if not for jamal adams i think personally trying to lose the game for us by missing two picks after his intro did you note this no i didn't see the intro when they do the you know I'm a so and so and I'm from this college although a lot of times now the guys will be like what their high school was. By the way what went wrong at the college that you don't want to credit them? This is

00:14:25 - 00:14:35 | Speaker 1:

the intro. Oh okay I saw people tweeting about this intro and I do remember him. I was watching this game at the Eagles and so I saw that he yelled something but I didn't catch what it was. So they're

00:14:35 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 2:

going through everyone's doing their you know where they went to college or their high school or whatever and then it gets to Jamal Adams. I think he's like the last one on the defense. He goes I'm Jamal Adams. I'm the greatest of all time that's literally what he said before he just went out there and pulled down his pants and just did a giant diarrhea at midfield he had he has zero sacks this year he has you know the biggest impact play that jamal adams has made a roughing the passer in i think

00:15:00 - 00:15:53 | Speaker 1:

it was like the second game like a critical roughing the passer that's literally the only thing that guy has done this season that has mattered and it was negative he has no sacks he gets to everybody knows he's blitzing I mean he can't cover anyone so now they have to blitz him all the time but everybody knows he's blitzing he always gets to the play after it's over and then claps his hands furiously and then strolls around the sidelines acting like he's had some impact on the game a ball literally hit him in the helmet like you have to pick that ball I mean the other one was maybe a little harder oh that one hit him in the numbers the ball that got knocked up these were both just absolutely critical plays that would have effectively won the game for the Seahawks salted the game away and he misses both of them and he has the temerity to say he's the greatest he is the biggest waste of money I have ever seen as a Seahawk since Brian Bosworth

00:15:53 - 00:16:22 | Speaker 2:

There's a lot of anger towards him, which I completely understand, and I can't even—I don't want to say this is definitely true, but I saw Danny O'Neill tweeting about his—I didn't know what he had said, but Danny was saying that—him saying that thing was a tribute to a former player he played with in college who lost his life, like, not recently, but at an early age or something, and that somehow that was a tribute. Either way, not most people are going to know that in this contest.

00:16:22 - 00:18:41 | Speaker 1:

Exactly. No offense, Jamal, but you're also bad at intros because, say, I'm Jamal Adams. I'm dedicating this game to so-and-so. Yeah, right. Because, like, nobody got that from him, and it's just on brand for him to be tone-deaf. And to see him strolling the sidelines hyped, like, he has just become the king of unearned confidence. Like, he just has no impact on the game. Like, again, I just—obviously, I'm really wound up about this, and I'm just restating the facts, but he has zero sacks this year and he's been burned in coverage like probably 10 times including at critical moments for touchdowns and converted third downs he can't cover people i mean and and chris collinsworth was trying to hype him hype him up last night being like jamal adams he's a fire starter and every time he was saying that it was on a play where jamal adams didn't even make the tackle like they really like stop trying to make jamal adams a thing we didn't already owe him money for this season I would cut him I think he's literally a liability you would be better off with somebody who can just sort of cover at safety because again he has no sacks he has no tackles for loss that I can think of like what you're doing with him is not working and then what also by the way what kept happening was so they blitz him now they have fewer people back in pass coverage and which means Ben Roethlisberger has more you know targets and his targets are more open because of the lack because your safety the only way to use this overpriced safety is to blitz him which creates no sacks and which just makes it easier on the offense so i i am just clearly very mad at jamal adams today um but as far as the team as a whole goes i felt pretty encouraged that they got it together in the second half that they played really tough i was really bummed about that geno smith fumble but it's just one of those things i mean russell wilson could have made that fumble i mean part of that is just experience like being i think game tested like i said russell isn't gonna make that fumble but actually i don't know if he does because i mean that was the first time geno smith really tried to run i think his eyes got really big he was thinking about juking the guy the linebacker that was coming up and he just forgot to take care of the ball and then he gets that big old tomahawk chop from tj watt uh which is that that Should I not say Tomahawk Chalk?

00:18:41 - 00:18:44 | Speaker 2:

Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, I guess not.

00:18:44 - 00:19:33 | Speaker 1:

He did that big chop. In other words, I think if Geno Smith has played in more games, there's some sort of subconscious muscle memory that has him holding onto the ball more tightly there is what I think, but I can't prove that. By the way, speaking of T.J. Watt, I don't know why it is that I know more about what's going on in the game than the announcers do. Like, I'm sitting at my house eating a round table pizza 3,000 miles away from the game. But why was no one talking about the fact that on that personal foul against T.J. Watt, did you see when he was trying to punch the ball out? He started with basically like a haymaker. Like, they were focusing on his overhand punches. Before he started doing that, he literally, like, uppercut into the stomach of the ball carrier.

00:19:33 - 00:19:34 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I didn't notice that either.

00:19:34 - 00:20:18 | Speaker 1:

I know what no one was talking about. It's like, go look at the tape. The first thing he does, he goes, he throws an uppercut and just, sorry, he just straight up punches the dude in the stomach. Then he starts going over the top. I was like, easy, Conor McGregor. Like, that was assault. That has nothing to do with getting the ball out at that point. And I was glad they threw the flag, but I was also incensed that nobody was talking about the first punch. which was literally like someone is boxing with someone. Like it had nothing to do with getting the ball. He didn't even get anywhere near the ball. He just punched the running back in the stomach. And then last thing I'll say about sort of complaining stuff about the refs, I don't understand why that one ball on that punt was not at the one-yard line.

00:20:18 - 00:20:32 | Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. I don't understand that either. And they never fully – again, I was watching in a public place, so I wasn't catching all of the dialogue or, you know, like all of the announcing. But I don't think they ever offered us a good explanation.

00:20:32 - 00:21:06 | Speaker 1:

They didn't. So first of all, of course, the ball's bouncing. And I think that the Steelers went on to score a touchdown, I believe, after that. So you can presume that them getting the ball at the 25 versus the 1 was helpful for them. But the first Seahawk goes down and he bats it back inbounds cleanly. And then the second guy grabs it and he's just standing there. And then after about a second, he kind of like trips over his fellow Seahawk. And then he also lays the ball down at the one before he goes into the end zone. So the ball literally never went into the end zone with a Seahawk touching.

00:21:06 - 00:21:45 | Speaker 2:

I think, though, and dude, you know that I could be wrong about this. I think that, and I think I've learned this from a play this season, I think that if you are trying to stop the ball, the ball doesn't have to cross, but I think if any part of the player is in the end zone, It might be a shitty rule, but that rings a bell to me. So let's say – can you explain to me why the – I don't remember who it was. Why did the second Seahawk even go in to touch the ball? The play was like – could have been dead, right? Well, because he was trying to down it. Wasn't it already downed when the first Seahawk went down? Did this flying lead –

00:21:45 - 00:22:09 | Speaker 1:

That doesn't count it. That's not possessing it. So that's the weirdness of the rule. But you can, if I understand right, as long as that person doesn't come down in the end zone, then that ball is still live. So like my understanding of that rule is Let's say the ball is punted And it's bouncing towards the end zone But you run and you jump from the field of play Now you're in the air You're in the end zone But you haven't touched the ground And you grab the ball and throw it back into fair territory

00:22:09 - 00:22:13 | Speaker 2:

As long as you're not touching the ground

00:22:13 - 00:22:58 | Speaker 1:

As long as you're not touching the ground My understanding is that ball is still live Which is sort of what happened on this play Then the next Seahawk grabbed it And he's just standing there And then like a second later Like he's holding the ball He's two feet on the ground He's just standing there, and then he kind of trips over like there's another Seahawk kind of right there in the mix. He sort of trips over him, and then as he trips over him, he also lays the ball down in fair territory, and then they're both just lying there. At no time did the ball go into the end zone, so I was very mystified by that call. Again, I don't know if that's the difference in the game or not, but it was just one of those things where, I don't know, it's frustrating to me when something like that happens and the announcers don't. They just kind of gloss over it. They're just like, well, he didn't possess the ball or whatever. Like, there was no talk about it when we came back from the break.

00:22:58 - 00:23:45 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, we went to break, and then it was just at the 25. Can I just ask, I'm really drilling down here on, like, the most tedious thing, but honestly, I think I am confused because I know you said the second Seahawk was just going to try to down the ball, but, I mean, nine times out of ten, like, once the first Seahawk kind of leaped in the air, didn't touch the end zone, kept the ball, you know, kind of kept the ball in play, and then it hit the ground, the ball didn't have much motion at that point it was just going to roll to a stop and like right if another Seahawk doesn't touch it none of you know none of the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to touch it it is going to be down like he just extended the play nobody should have touched it at that point it should have just laid there that's why I'm confused why the second Seahawk decided to come in or was it a mistake I think it's habit I mean you're totally right if everybody

00:23:45 - 00:25:13 | Speaker 1:

avoids the ball it'll just be down at some point they'll blow the whistle I thought I was misunderstanding okay no i think you're right about that but i think that there's well first of all if you're on special teams it's and you get to like hold the ball at the one yard line like that's probably the highlight of your week so and there's also i mean he didn't know he was going to fall down so usually what happens in a play like that is the second person who gets there they grab the ball and then they just stand the ball the whistle gets blown they hand the ball to the ref they do a celebration because it's down at the one in this case unfortunately this guy picked up the ball to do that but then also there was a seahawk rolling around at his feet and it caused him to sort of fall over and go into the end zone. But again, this is what's so strange about those rules. It feels like if the first guy grabs it and throws it into fair territory and then no one touches it, it's down. So why is it that much different when someone picks it up? Like a Seahawk picks it up. To me, it's the moment a Seahawk makes contact with the ball, or a Steeler for that matter, any player, the moment they make contact with the ball in fair territory, well, I should say if they're from the punting team, that should be down automatically like possessing the ball doesn't matter if you touch it and you're in fair territory that's where the ball should be right and if you're the offense and you touch it in fair territory that's when the ball should become live like i don't understand that rule It's always kind of perplexed me again. I don't think it was a difference in the game, but it was it was a frustration that I had. I mean, they did get the Roethlisberger fumble. Correct. So that was. Yes, yes, yes. That should have been sort of a game changer.

00:25:14 - 00:26:25 | Speaker 2:

Didn't take advantage of those situations. That's that's that is the bummer. And also the only the only real thing that I wanted to say is and, you know, so not to sorry to stop your flow there. I think you have a lot more to say on this game than I do. But I just want to say that, like, with the exception of the fumble, which was is really the timing of that fumble and like when it happened in the game. But Gino played exactly as well as I thought he was going to play and kind of hoped he would play like he's serviceable. I didn't think he was going to be Russell Wilson, but like I was talking to Sakamara Kev yesterday. I don't know if he was the one who said this or somebody else, but like, you know, Gino's been Gino's been there for three years. So, like, it's not like bringing in a quarterback who's going to be – that you have to, like, totally plan differently around them. Like, he's been part of this system, and he has trained under this system, and he's got a little bit of mobility. He's got a little spark to him. Like, he played – I saw exactly what I thought I was going to see from him. It's that fumble at the most inopportune time that I guess I didn't really predict. But I also wouldn't have said – if somebody said, you want to bet that he'll turn over the ball once, I'd be like, yeah, probably. Right. I mean, Ross just wants it as well.

00:26:25 - 00:27:30 | Speaker 1:

he didn't throw an interception no he had no picks but he did fumble it and it was like the worst possible time for that yeah yeah i you know i have this weird i mean i'm the eternal optimist with this team but i have this weird feeling that we're gonna sort of be okay this season like i think we're gonna we have some actual i mean look the steelers weren't great on paper but going and playing in heights field is always hard right like i just think that's a difficult game no matter what the steelers record is more difficult uh when you don't have your as i wrote on twitter once in a generation quarterback and starting running back although alex collins looked really good um so like i don't think that was a gimme i think we're going to get some easier games we have like a i think we get to play out of our conference for a minute or two and i think those games are winnable with geno smith if if we can get back to four and four by the time russell wilson gets healthy i don't know i could see us i could see us getting hot again and being okay They showed more grit in this game than I was expecting, I guess, and it actually gave me a reason to be optimistic as opposed to being pessimistic after what was kind of a crushing loss.

00:27:31 - 00:27:53 | Speaker 2:

It was a crushing loss, but it didn't—and again, not that it has to be this comparison, but given that I watched two football games yesterday, I wouldn't say that the Seahawks' performance was as troubling as what I saw from the Browns yesterday as far as where both of these teams are right now and given the fact that we're, you know, this is the first non-Russell Wilson start in almost a decade.

00:27:53 - 00:28:55 | Speaker 1:

I will say, though, that the defense still has to get better. And I don't know if it's Ken Norton Jr. I don't know. Like, as Durs was saying in our text chain yesterday, the Seahawks are not lacking for talent on paper. Like, I think we actually have. Well, I mean, you know, we're paying Jamal Adams a lot. And, you know, we have like Al Woods, you know, on the line. I think Bobby Wagner is still a very effective linebacker. Like we have some players on defense, but are like again, I'm sorry. I this will be the last I say anything about Jamal Adams for a little bit. But, like, the problem seems to be Jamal Adams related to me because we're basically down a safety at all times. And so many of our plays on defense are predicated on Jamal Adams getting to the quarterback. And if he doesn't, then we're in real trouble. Then we have Benson Maoya in coverage. You cannot have Benson Maoya, a defensive lineman, in coverage at the five-yard line. That's going to be a touchdown every time. So I don't know what our schemes are, but they seem bad a lot of the time.

00:28:55 - 00:29:40 | Speaker 2:

And it's funny, you know, you don't listen to as much just like kind of like random sports radio like I do. Like I just go in the kitchen and I like an old man, I eat cold sausage over the sink and listen to like daytime sports radio. And I don't I'm not really that interested in offseason maneuvering. Like I just I don't think I'm smart enough for it. Also, you know, I was very locked into my baseball this year. So basically I was kind of I was glossing over a lot of the talk. But, like, it just seemed like 90% of the off-season energy for the Seahawks was spent on getting a deal with Jamal Adams. You know what I mean? That's what hurts so bad. Like, not just the deal, but just, like, everything was around this. We have to move heaven and earth. We have to make this happen.

00:29:40 - 00:29:44 | Speaker 1:

And he's holding out. Yeah. There's, like, a showdown. Right.

00:29:45 - 00:29:57 | Speaker 2:

And then to have this, I mean, that really does make it all the more galling. And the thing is, like, I like him. Like just like as a player Like I mean I'm sorry as a person I should say Like I like You didn't like him last year When he came in

00:29:57 - 00:30:00 | Speaker 1:

No I liked him last year Because he was good Oh yeah right No I don't I don't like him because he's bad.

00:30:00 - 00:30:09 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, I understand that. But, like, just generally speaking, when he is good and, like, and then you like him again, like, he's a very likable character.

00:30:10 - 00:30:37 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know. You know, it's like Pete Carroll syndrome, which is when Pete Carroll is, like, chomping his gum and clapping on the sideline after we lose or do a bad play, I am, like, so livid at him. But then when something goes right, I'm like, God, thank you, Pete, for keeping it positive. That's how I feel about Jamal Adams. It's like if you want to say you're the best ever and if you want to, like, be, like, running around on the sideline all hyped, that's fine as long as you have two strip sacks in the game.

00:30:37 - 00:30:38 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, right, yeah.

00:30:38 - 00:31:29 | Speaker 1:

But you're right. I mean, General Adams was very excited about being in the playoffs last year, you know, coming from the Jets, who have been pretty bad for a long time. The other thing I can't remember if I said this. I think I did in our text chain. But like what kind of sucks right now is I now know what 85 percent of the NFL of NFL fans feel like, which is when you don't have a once in a generation quarterback, when you are rooting for like any team that's not Tampa Bay, the Kansas City Chiefs, you know, the Chargers or the Cardinals or the Seahawks when they have Russell Wilson. And if you're if you're basically rooting for most of the teams in the NFL that just have a sort of workman like quarterbacks, it's really unfun because there's like, you know, they're not good at making magic happen the way Russell does, even as frustrated as we get with Russell sometimes. You really notice. By the way, how did you feel about his performative warmups?

00:31:29 - 00:31:43 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I didn't quite understand it. You know, I was seeing them reported on Twitter, but I was making my way kind of from my Browns watching here at home over to my Seahawks watching at the Eagles. so can you explain that he was out there he was like what call he was he was just kind of

00:31:43 - 00:32:26 | Speaker 1:

practicing call he was like running like before the game he was running you know obviously not in pads or anything but with his finger all taped up he was like running basically a game simulation like of by himself just running around doing like quarterback drills with like no football but like imagining you know the defense was there or imagining he was audible or whatever and it was just kind of funny because of course it was like you know the announcers are like that's russell wilson for you and i was like all right russell calm down yeah you're not gonna play in this game we get it we get it that you can move your finger 75 today which they thought was only going to be 10 we get that you're i mean listen i love the dude and i'm gonna be very excited to have him back on the on the field but it just almost there's something about that that felt a little

00:32:26 - 00:33:23 | Speaker 2:

performative to me i mean listen i know the guy is corny right and he is but like i will just take that over i will just take that corniness along with the leadership uh over so many other people over an aaron rogers just pouting on the sidelines when everything doesn't go his way um or you know i could go down the list i i like the fact i think rogers yesterday this won't oh i'm sorry i'm cutting off oh no well actually i mean i haven't been following rogers that oh oh actually yeah let's talk about that too you can fill me in on that obnoxiousness but um i uh i can't remember I'll just take it. I don't know how much the corny leadership locker room, does he own the locker room kind of talk. I don't know how that translates. I don't know if you know this, but I'm not an NFL player. I just don't know how much of that stuff really does go into keeping a team together. but I will take it any day certainly over the alternative no you're right I mean and and again

00:33:23 - 00:33:34 | Speaker 1:

last night even though Geno Smith I think was competent up until his big fumble um you really realize how good Russell Wilson is when you have someone who's not Russell Wilson playing quarterback

00:33:34 - 00:33:38 | Speaker 2:

yeah you know what was going on with Aaron Rodgers who he was screaming I still own you I've always

00:33:38 - 00:34:00 | Speaker 1:

owned you to the Bears yesterday is that yes exactly he apparently had a game ceiling uh touchdown against chicago and he was yelling i still own you which has now i mean that's right up there with me yelling you bleed for me after i fought a guy in a parking lot outside the mandarin gate i mean that is a bad look and that is like do people understand why i don't like him i sort

00:34:00 - 00:34:10 | Speaker 2:

of feel like i was the only person saying i mean obviously vikings fans don't like them but or you know basically don't like green bay and don't like him but like generally speaking like he's an

00:34:10 - 00:34:51 | Speaker 1:

asshole right are we seeing that now i feel like it's coming out much more this season i've never heard him yell i still own you at an opposing fan base um before that seems you know like a new like a new level of of whatever i i think i just thought he was sort of i was neutral on him for for many years um and you i think i think it's one of those things where once you start sort of clocking the annoying behaviors from a player what whoever that player is and then you start to see it even more because you're kind of like looking for it and I wasn't looking for it you were telling me about it you you didn't ever like the guy I now don't like the guy sorry Packers

00:34:51 - 00:34:56 | Speaker 2:

fans who are listening hey you got the win so that's good but um you're you're doing fine Packers

00:34:56 - 00:35:44 | Speaker 1:

fans but um but yeah that was i don't think that was very cool i mean who knows what the bears fans were yelling at him but even so yeah that's that's salt in the wound you know what's really salt in the wound fucking ramon who's a steelers fan which makes no sense because dudes from like simi valley california and now lives in chicago so naturally he's a steelers fan texting me literally the second the seahawks lose how about those steelers cool and i'm like go f yourself yeah i do not and then he just responds with like i got in a meme war with this guy he's got every meme known to me he just starts sending me it's really gifts i'm gonna so he goes oh you know i was so mad i deleted the conversation all i still have is at 141 a.m last night my time a terrible towel being waved in front of a ghost

00:35:44 - 00:35:49 | Speaker 2:

dealers gif that's what that's the last thing that he sent you yes and he sent that at three

00:35:49 - 00:36:01 | Speaker 1:

in the morning chicago time he was just i i deleted the rest of the conversation but he was basically like just sending me like gifts just making me so mad i was legitimately getting mad

00:36:01 - 00:36:05 | Speaker 2:

what were you were you firing back or not or were you just like i have to start caring about your

00:36:05 - 00:36:17 | Speaker 1:

stupid soccer he's like it loves like um a spanish soccer team uh that's in la liga i think i forget which team it is but i was like i'm gonna start studying soccer and then i'm just gonna text you

00:36:17 - 00:36:22 | Speaker 2:

every time your stupid soccer team loses right exactly like i was just like so i was i was like

00:36:22 - 00:36:33 | Speaker 1:

legit kind of hot and he just kept responding with gifs of people smiling and being dumb yeah yeah no it's actually pretty funny it's funny to me now it's not funny to me last night exactly

00:36:33 - 00:36:37 | Speaker 2:

no in the moment that stuff is not uh yeah that's because that's not how we do typically you know

00:36:37 - 00:37:09 | Speaker 1:

what i mean that is a way of of that is a way to sport but that's not how we really sport with each other like if the vikings and the seahawks are playing and let's say the seahawks win we're not like rubbing it into stew we're kind of being a little bit we're kind of being gentle because we're like oh that's got to hurt for him that's that's how we you know uh liberal elite coastal snowflakes tend to raz each or not raz each other but ramon is just on a whole different wavelength so he he doesn't care he's gonna just like he thinks the fun of it is that i'm mad yeah and

00:37:09 - 00:38:04 | Speaker 2:

also like we legitimately like the vikings or i legitimately like the vikings and i you know i would you know in the order of things i root for that would probably be the third team that i would root for i mean i'm not i'm not tracking the vikings all that well other than the fact that the seahawks and the browns both played them this year but um as opposed to my friendship with tiara from baltimore which our entire relationship is based on my hatred of the ravens and her love of the ravens of course and um like i like she was sending me some shit just like not even like negative brown stuff never at all just like pro raven stuff after the ravens you know were able to because nothing says Super Bowl like squeaking out an overtime win over the Colts but so congratulations there Tiara I don't know if she listens to this or not but like you know she's sending me all these like all these like Ravens coming Omar tributes like blowing up my phone

00:38:04 - 00:38:12 | Speaker 1:

with this and like oh yeah that's our whole thing this year yeah they got the whistle and everything which I have to admit is kind of dope being that they are from Baltimore you have to at least give

00:38:12 - 00:39:21 | Speaker 2:

them that I mean listen if things were different if I didn't if I wasn't a Browns fan I might legitimately like them you know what i mean it's not like yeah it's not like lamar jackson is like like i don't dislike him as a person really at all and i mean he's a generational talent like i accept that but i also hate them i just hate them so much you know it's not like the vikings where i'm legit said like i want i mean and that's one of the things i shouldn't admit this and let's hope tiara doesn't hear it because it means she wins but like that's what you know like that's what sucks so bad right now like is the browns are where the browns are which is sub optimal based on what i was hoping they would do this season based on how they ended last season but what's really bad is that the ravens are just dominating you know and we just like unless they win something happens where they just start losing like crazy and i would never you know they have this quarterback and like i want him to finish the season healthy you know what i mean like i just don't know that there is anything that will kind of change their fate as long as on the field because it's like it's magic it really is and i have to say like i i feel like

00:39:21 - 00:39:54 | Speaker 1:

there's a strong racial component to the lamar jackson story which is the racism of the nfl undervaluing black quarterbacks and uh you know quarterbacks who are maybe non-traditional too who run a lot and i mean i think it's it's it's pretty clear in the history of the nfl And that's the reason why I think a lot of teams Passed on Lamar Jackson So Lamar Jackson doing really well In the NFL I think is a repudiation of a lot of Sort of racist tropes So on that level I'm really rooting for him But yeah man he is I mean again sorry not to make this worse for you

00:39:54 - 00:39:55 | Speaker 2:

As a brown

00:39:55 - 00:40:00 | Speaker 1:

It'd be like if you were talking up an Oklahoma City Thunder player Ouch.

00:40:01 - 00:40:06 | Speaker 2:

But no, I mean, Lamar Jackson I find very rootable just as a figure in sports.

00:40:07 - 00:40:51 | Speaker 1:

But the good thing is, and I've been giving this some thought, and again, I literally don't know if she would hear this or not, but the good thing is what's going on here is when and if the Browns ever are better than the Ravens, I am going to take a decade of frustration out in a me more with Tiara like I don't have to hold back. There's not going to be any kid gloves because if I'm getting the Raven celebrating gift texts all night long, well, then I I'm going to start with the Condoleezza Rice in the Browns jersey. That's that's what I always start with. And then we'll see where I go from there. Will you also take some shots at Ramon?

00:40:52 - 00:42:22 | Speaker 2:

I like that guy. Can we form an alliance? I'm like the U.S. It's the Revolutionary War, and I really need some help from France, and you're France. You've got the big guns. Uh-huh. So if you could just come over, if you could give me a hand with Ramon, that would really. Well, when you go into a meme war, Luke, you've got to have your memes. All right. I guess we should sort of wrap this up here. Like I said, I will probably be eating these words next week after. Also, by the way, it's such a bummer that the Seahawks are in their three primetime games. Sons, Russell Wilson. Yeah, good point. It's like you know how, like, whatever. I'm not crying for the networks. They're making plenty of money. But it's like you know how bummed they are. It's just like this. Oh, one last thing. Can I just say one last thing? i i love you chris carson but you gotta go like we just can't have a running back who is as fragile as chris carson this is what i've said throughout his career and also rashad penny love you you gotta go rashad penny gets 40 yards a season and it's on one play and then he's injured after that one play that is literally the rashad penny uh you know um sort of experience and we i mean again Chris Carson is great when he's healthy, but he's just not healthy enough. They've got to cut both of those guys at the end of the season. I'm sorry. You're better off with a mediocre running back that you can count on, in my opinion.

00:42:23 - 00:43:51 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. Sorry, I'm just thinking about running backs now. I just don't know who's going to be out there Thursday. I'm assuming – I don't know exactly what the extent of Chubb's injury is. Now, Chubb is the one who didn't start the game yesterday. So I don't even know if there's any expectation of him coming back. for some reason I'm weirdly hopeful, but you said you didn't see it. Hunt was carted off the field crying, Luke. It's bad. And what did the injury look like? You know, the funny thing is I don't remember the play. They must have shown it over and over, but honestly, for some reason, I don't remember the play. It was during a time in the game where it was so out of control that I was just doing some kind of pacing and just was a little bit out of my mind. And so I actually cannot picture the play right now, but I know it's a calf injury and that he couldn't put weight on it and that they took him to the tent and i could the mix on the fox broadcast was so bad yesterday um but i could sort of hear the sideline reporter talking about how um she said something like you might think i have the best view of the game where i am but i think of it as the worst view of the game because like she saw obj screaming in pain apparently and she saw um like i i guess hunt in the tent like started crying in pain and frustration um and then we saw the tears and the red eyes as he's carted off the field so this doesn't seem like you know a small thing based on that it looks like they're saying three weeks for

00:43:51 - 00:44:24 | Speaker 2:

hunt with the calf injury um and so they'll probably put him on the ir uh which if you put them on ir they have to miss three weeks is that what i was wondering if it was three or five i couldn't remember i think it's three so they're saying that basically it without hunt the browns top remaining backs are d'earnest johnson and dimitrick felton now peace and love to our listeners in denver because um we have a lot of folks out there but the broncos have just been pretty bad for a long time and i don't really i think you guys can beat the broncos even without

00:44:24 - 00:45:00 | Speaker 1:

chunt um because i just don't think the broncos are very good but you know who knows yeah i hope So I hope they get it together. I hope they get a little bit of momentum with this stretch of games, and we'll see what happens. I think, I'm just checking here, by the way, I do think I finally did win my second fantasy. Yeah, it looks like unless something goes really haywire. Yeah, there's no way that I can lose this now. So I started the fantasy season 0-4, Luke. I am now, was that right? Yeah, now I'm 2-4, so at least I'm starting to rack up some wins there. here.

00:45:00 - 00:45:20 | Speaker 2:

So things are looking real good. Good. All right. Thank goodness. We should call it for this week, but we will be back here next Monday, probably, with an update on all things sports. So thanks for listening, everyone. And definitely remember that when we're talking about the no point, there is absolutely no tangent too long. Or detail too wrong.

00:45:20 - 00:45:50 | Speaker 1:

No matter what you are I will always be with you Doesn't matter what you do Girl, girl, with you No matter what you do I will always be with you

00:45:50 - 00:46:20 | Unknown:

Thank you.
